The Future Crime Research Foundation (FCRF) recently hosted a high-level Roundtable on CryptoCrime Landscape, Regulation, and Blockchain Forensics at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, powered by Crystal Intelligence and Pelorus Technologies. The event attracted top officials from law enforcement, government, policy, legal sectors, and leaders from the cryptocurrency and blockchain industries to discuss the escalating threats of cryptocrimes. Dr Gulshan Rai, Former National Cybersecurity Coordinator and DG of CERT-In, delivered the keynote, stressing the importance of strict KYC regulations and global cooperation to combat cryptocurrency-related crimes. Dr. Rai emphasized that cross-border collaboration and harmonized regulations are essential to protect end-users and prevent financial crimes. Panel 1, moderated by Amit Sharma (Additional Director General and Advisor (Cyber), Ministry of Defense), explored challenges faced by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in handling crimes like exchange hacks, ransomware, and fraud. Panelists included Air Vice Marshal (Dr) Devesh Vatsa VSM, Jitender Singh (ACP, I4C), and Dilip Chenoy, who underscored the importance of blockchain forensics to trace illicit crypto transactions.
