Fitch Ratings in New York has upgraded Fulton County, Georgia’s General Obligation Bonds to “AAA,” the highest rating available.    The upgrade reflects their new criteria which takes into account financial resiliency, budgetary flexibility given high revenue and expenditure controls, as well as historical levels of reserves and the County’s continued minimum fund balance policy of 16.7%. Fitch noted, “the overall strength of Fulton County’s demographic and economic level indicators (unemployment rate, educational attainment and median household income) in 2023 are assessed as “Strong.” Also noted was the County’s important role and significant contributions to the growing Atlanta metropolitan statistical area, the 10th largest in the United States.
