Industry and government collaborating to build a forward-looking, integrated view of supply chain conditions in the U.S.
About us
The Freight Logistics Optimization Works (FLOW) program is a public-private partnership among industry and government to build a forward-looking, integrated view of supply chain conditions in the United States. FLOW data helps forecast how current capacity and throughput will fare against future demand, helping participating companies anticipate changes in supply chain throughput and take proactive step to mitigate previously unanticipated delays. The FLOW program collects purchase order information from importers in addition to logistics supply, demand, and throughput data from participants (e.g., beneficial cargo owners, ocean carriers, ports, terminals, railways). The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) anonymizes, regionally segments, and aggregates the data. Participants then receive FLOW data that provides a broad, daily view of the current conditions of the overall logistics network, beyond what they may observe within their own operations.

Meet Mike Wells, Executive Vice President and COO at Direct ChassisLink Inc. (DCLI) and FLOW member! “DCLI has always believed data sharing is critical to improving the resiliency of our supply chain network. FLOW has successfully brought together leaders from various industries and modes of transportation to better forecast supply and demand. As FLOW continues to expand, DCLI will increasingly benefit from the visibility into ocean carrier booking and BCO purchase order data. This will allow us to more efficiently pre-position our assets to meet the ever-changing shifts in ocean container demand. As a FLOW Executive Board member, it’s been exciting to learn, participate, and help shape the strategy for this initiative. The opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with other industry leaders has been invaluable to me and opened so many doors for our organization.” #supplychain #logistics #SupplyChainFLOW #SupplyChainSolution

FLOW is in the news! Check out the October Issue of LogisticsManager Magazine to read about how FLOW is expanding across the US and helping build more resilient supply chains. Secretary Pete Buttigieg is quoted in the article saying “FLOW’s membership now reaches the five largest container ports on the West Coast, which will lead to more informed decisions across America’s supply chains. This work serves to improve efficiency and ultimately help lower costs for consumers.” https://lnkd.in/gFmBPbFg
