FTCHS is committed to creating a safe progressive school environment where collaboration and cooperation are a priority.

About us

Our Mission: Franklin Towne Charter High School allows students to pursue pathways of learning which are respective to their personal interests, from the humanities to STEM, in an effort to infuse joy into learning; all while fostering warmth and positivity in a family-like atmosphere for our students. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education and 1 of the Top 100 Places to Work in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Magazine and Philly.com. Franklin Towne is committed to creating a safe, supported, progressive school environment where collaboration and cooperation are a priority. Location & Safety: Franklin Towne Charter High School is located in the Bridesburg-Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia. Unlike most Philadelphia schools that are located within a neighborhood, Franklin Towne Charter H.S. is uniquely cut off from potential hazards of neighborhood violence due to Interstate 95 to the west and the Delaware River to the east. In addition, Franklin Towne is safely located within a gated community known as the Arsenal Business Center. Like the decommissioned Philadelphia Navy Yard in South Philly that has undergone a substantial rejuvenation, the Arsenal Business Center is following suit with its own revival. One of the most recent additions is the Guard House which is the unofficial café of Franklin Towne and the greater Arsenal campus. Our energetic and outgoing students Franklin Towne Charter High School had a great conversation with Craig Timberlake and Tanya Manila with OnCourse Systems for Education. During this coaching session both of our guests gave our students everlasting advice. Craig Timberlake told our students " Put your energy into things that you can change, don't focus on thing you can change." Tanya Manila said "find a company that honors being a servant leader." Thank you OnCourse Systems for Education for allowing us to use your brilliant Project managers.

  • The goal of our HBCU Fair was for the African American history class to showcase the history and legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Students guided, by Ms. Ahmiya N. Jones and with strong backing from the FTCHS guidance department (Liz Kaisinger and Diaka Thiam, M.S.), conducted research on each college and universities founding, its role in advancing Black education, and its academic programs. Their presentations inspired seniors and juniors by connecting them with schools rooted in cultural pride and academic excellence. #hbcu #Towneproud #collegefair #newheights

  • Thank you Philadelphia Financial Scholars for empowering Future Entrepreneurs at Franklin Towne Charter High School ! On October 24th, we had the pleasure of hosting guest speaker Tunji Adebayo, thanks to our partnership with Philadelphia Financial Scholars. Tunji delivered an inspiring talk on taking risks and transforming failures into opportunities, sharing wisdom that applies not only to entrepreneurship but to all aspects of life. Mr. Joseph Curry, who observed the presentation, shared, “The entire presentation by Tunji was phenomenal. The level of engagement from the students was some of the highest I've ever seen, and it was entertaining to say the least. The entrepreneurial and risk-taking skills discussed will for sure set the students up for future success.” Thank you Danielle Hernandez for your organizations work to show our students that calculated risks and resilience are key ingredients for success. We’re excited to see how these future leaders take on the world! #TownePower #Entrepreneurship #StudentSuccess #newheights #PhiladelphiaFinancialScholars
