EIT Food is launching a new Alliance to develop and test standards for the environmental impact data of food. Foundation Earth announces a review and upgrade of its Life Cycle Assessment methodology  Foundation Earth is pleased to announce a comprehensive review to upgrade its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. The current methodology, published open-source in March 2023, has been instrumental in driving forward our mission of a harmonised method which measures the environmental impact of food and drink products. However, as the field of sustainability science evolves, so too must our tools and approaches. Why this review matters: The LCA methodology is a cornerstone of our work, enabling us to assess the environmental impacts of food and drink products from cradle to grave. This review is a critical step in ensuring our assessments reflect the latest advances in environmental science while continuing to progress harmonisation. Objectives of the review: Incorporate latest scientific research in the methodology: We aim to integrate the most recent findings in sustainability science, ensuring our methodology aligns with the latest developments in LCA and environmental policy in Europe and beyond.  Enhance Data Quality Rating (DQR): By refining our DQR system, we strive to provide even more precise and accurate results, increasing the use of primary data where possible.  Improve Grading System: Working with stakeholders and data experts we will review our Grading System to improve the accuracy and fairness of grades across all food categories.
