Fresh Success providers came together last week, representing community colleges, community-based organizations, and adult education centers across California. Our Fresh Success team, (Tanya Garbolino, Kaleigh Lacouture, Paige A. Hernandez, M.A., and Shabnum Budhwani) led collaborative conversations on strengthening #CalFresh Employment and Training programs to better serve our students and communities. Special thanks to our engaged providers for bringing such thoughtful insights to the discussion. Since 2017, the Foundation for California Community Colleges has distributed over $270,000 to support students, faculty, and staff affected by wildfires and disasters. California Community Colleges don't just provide education - they're crucial centers for disaster response and recovery. Most recently, our Wildfire and Disaster Relief efforts provided $10,000-$15,000 each to Butte College, Feather River Community College District, and Shasta College during the Park Fire. These funds help community members with urgent needs - from emergency relocation to replacing essential educational equipment. Beyond immediate relief, we're investing in prevention through our Resilient Careers in Forestry program, empowering the forestry workforce to build stronger, more resilient communities for the future. Watch our feature on Krcr Tv News Channel 7-Kiwb Tv to learn more about the fund and see the impact in action. You can support our ongoing relief efforts here: bit.ly/47xJte7

We're excited to be featured in a recent Work Shift News article highlighting the transformative impact of the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Good Jobs Challenge! Through our California Resilient Careers in Forestry program, we're working with partners across the state to create pathways to family-sustaining careers while protecting our forests and building climate resilience. The article showcases how community colleges are emerging as key players in driving economic mobility. We're proud to partner with Butte College, Feather River Community College District, Lake Tahoe Community College, Reedley College, Shasta College, California State University, Chico, UCANR California Conservation Corps, CalFire and the Sierra Business Council to expand access to forestry careers. Our $21.5M grant is helping address critical workforce needs in California's $39B forestry and fire safety sector, with a focus on creating opportunities for historically underrepresented communities including tribal members, women, Hispanic/Latinx individuals, veterans, and those from low-income backgrounds.
