Foundation for Healthy Communities

Hosted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Immunization Conference (NIC) has been a public health educational tradition, bringing together a unique mix of subject matter experts and public health professionals for many decades. Federal, state, and local public health partners gather to share the latest developments in science, program, policy and communications on immunizations and vaccine-preventable diseases. NIC 2024 is a three-day, in-person event that provides the opportunity for over 1,500 immunization contributors and partners from the public and private sectors to connect, including our own Chris Symolon, Director, COVID-19 Vaccination Project and Doorways Grant Administrator.

Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF) hosted the Behavioral Health Clinical Learning Collaborative meeting with community partners yesterday. A special thanks to all the clinicians and staff at the HHRTF for their inspiration and dedication. Collaboration is key to our success in providing comprehensive care to our youth and young adults. “Bringing our members together is crucial. More than 100 providers and staff attended this week's Involuntary Emergency Admission (IEA), Conditional Discharge (CD), Revocation of Conditional Discharge (RCD) and Care Traffic Control (CTC) full-day training session sponsored by New Hampshire Hospital, the Behavioral Health Clinical Learning Collaborative, the New Hampshire Hospital Association and the Department of Health and Human Services.

As we embark on Mental Health Awareness Month, it's so important to recognize that the path to mental wellness isn't solely paved with websites, toolkits, podcasts or lists of do’s and don’ts. True healing often stems from the simplicity of human connection. It's about disconnecting from our devices and truly being present. It's also about reaching out to a friend, foregoing a text for a meaningful conversation and taking a walk in the rain. It's about fostering empathy and understanding, reaching out to those in need and embracing the power of unity.   In this spirit of collective action, the Foundation for Healthy Communities' Behavioral Health Clinical Learning Collaborative has brought together champions of progress in our NH mental health landscape. Over the past half decade, these champions have contributed tirelessly to enhancing crisis behavioral health services across our communities. Through collaborative learning initiatives and innovative approaches, they have empowered themselves and one another to provide more effective support to individuals grappling with mental health challenges. Their dedication and commitment serve as a beacon of hope for our state, so let’s remain together on this journey by incorporating courage, compassion and a renewed sense of purpose in all we do.
