A wonderful time in our Back to School Drive is underway, when we start receiving backpacks and school supplies from our corporate partners. Today, the good folks at Endeavor Real Estate Group filled an SUV with 96 backpacks for the students at our Lakeline Station and Laurel Creek Learning Centers. Thank you! When students arrive at our Learning Centers after school, they're often in need of an energy boost. That's why we serve up healthy snacks, so the students can have sharp, focused minds that are ready for more learning! An $80 donation provides healthy snacks for one child for an entire month.

Our Back to School Drive is still shy of $10,000 on our way to our goal of raising $100,000 to support the hundreds of students in our Learning Centers. Part of the reason our students learn so much after school and during the summer is we keep them energized and alert with healthy snacks and physical fitness. Aramark volunteers visited Homestead Oaks yesterday to stuff backpacks for families in the Children’s Home Initiative. This team is incredible! Thank you for your support. In our July spotlight, we are featuring a mother/daughter team Debbie and Kylie. They volunteer for the Healthy Food Pantry at our Homestead Oaks Apartments. Debbie wrote, “Although we live in one of the richest countries in the world, it breaks our hearts that many families still experience hunger. This is why my daughter, Kylie, and I decided to volunteer our time at Foundation Communities Food Pantries. It is our hope that through this opportunity, we can help our neighbors in need by providing them not only with nutritious foods but also with a smile as we share recipe possibilities. We have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful individuals and learning a little bit about them and their children.” Thank you Debbie and Kylie for putting your great relationship to work to serve our community!

During our Back to School Drive this year, we are hoping to raise at least $100,000 to support the students in our 16 Learning Centers. Unfortunately, we are off to a very slow start! Aqua Zumba is back! This low-impact, high-energy fitness class starts up again TONIGHT (Tuesdays) at 6pm at our Trails at the Park Apartments in south Austin.
