This morning during the Tallahassee AHCA Joint Training for SNFs, FHCA presented Agency for Health Care Administration Deputy Secretary Kimberly Smoak with the 2024 Champion for the Elderly Award and a special FHCA challenge coin. Deputy Secretary Smoak not only dedicates her career to the care of Florida’s aging population, she also goes above and beyond during natural disasters to keep providers informed and support their efforts which focus on the safety of residents and caregivers during natural disasters, especially the most recent Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In recognition of Infection Preventionist Week, FHCA wants to recognize our Infection Prevention Council leaders and members who, together, are working to identify and promote strategies that help with the prevention of healthcare-associated infections in long term care settings. Thank you to our Chair, A.C. Burke, and Vice Chairs Donna Spangler and Juan Bracho, for leading this council and supporting our members' Infection Preventionists with this valuable resource.

We love our business partners, and the Associate Member Support Committee plays an active role in ensuring these partners are making the connections they need to support providers with quality improvements and effective operations. We're excited to have AMSC Chair Stephen Lomonico, and Vice Chair Bradlee Cox leading this committee, which also helps take our Annual Conference Trade Show over the top year after year!

Congratulations to our own Kristen Knapp, FHCA Sr. Director of Strategy & Communications, who was recently recognized as a Great Communicator by INFLUENCE Magazine. From crisis response to natural disasters or promoting our members' delivery of high-quality care, Kristen is a great example of an "Always On" honoree who answers the call of duty to provide information and communicate whenever and wherever.
