Coined by the late Dr. Woodie Flowers, Gracious Professionalism is an integral part of the ethos of FIRST. It’s a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. As the fifth anniversary of Dr. Woodie Flowers’ passing approaches, we invite the entire FIRST community to celebrate and honor his life by participating in Walk Like Woodie Day. Woodie shared so much with the FIRST community during his life, but his ethos of treating yourself and others with respect, kindness, and compassion perhaps made the deepest impact, which continues to resonate with and inspire our community to this day. Today, we celebrate #WomeninRobotics Day and the many talented female roboticists and engineers at Motional who are making driverless technology a reality 🤖 In today’s Meet Motional, we spotlight Amanda Kline a Senior Autonomy Product Engineer. Amanda was connected with the autonomous vehicle industry though her work with FIRST Robotics. Today, she works on perception, mapping, and localization as part of our autonomy team.
