DYK our new exhibition, “Tamara de Lempicka,” is the first major museum retrospective of Lempicka in the US? 💌 Tamara de Lempicka (1894-1980) was once a star of 1920s Paris and has been appreciated in Europe since the 1980s. She came to the United States in 1939, fleeing Europe just before the Nazi invasion because of her Jewish heritage. Although Lempicka remained in America, eventually moving to Mexico, the Art Deco style of her paintings fell out of fashion and she never achieved the same recognition as she did in Paris. See her striking and rarely publicly displayed work for yourself at our new exhibition, "Tamara de Lempicka," on view now through February 9, 2025. “We’ve talked about doing some kind of collaboration with SFJazz for a long time,” said Maria Egoavil, the de Young’s public programs project manager. “We’re always looking for ways to let people experience art in new ways, and this was a perfect opportunity. You can see the art and now listen to the art and experience an interpretation of the work.” Read to learn more the collaboration between SFJAZZ and our local artists exhibition, "About Place: Bay Area Artists from the Svane Gift," ahead of its 21st season run at the SFJazz Center this weekend!

Join us this Saturday for the opening of the exhibition, "Mary Cassatt at Work," celebrating her trailblazing vision and radical artistry. As a leading figure of the Impressionist movement, Cassatt broke boundaries with her tender yet revolutionary depictions of women and children. Her vibrant use of color, unique perspectives, and fearless exploration of everyday life made her one of the most daring artists of her time. Thank you to everyone who made this exhibition possible!
