About us

In 2012 non-profit organization called FilmGate Interactive was formed. FilmGate Interactive continues the Florida movie showcase aspects of INDIEFILMCLUB but now includes formidable film industry career enhancing or skill updating programs and events to strengthen acting, filmmaking and new media within the South East region of the United States. In Mid 2012 co-founders Diliana Alexander and Jose Jacho form the creation of FilmGate Interactive Festival - The first new media festival in Florida that combines multiple disciples of storytelling and new technology In Late 2012 FilmGate Interactive was awarded the prestigious Knights Arts Award Challenge $100,000 to fully establish and continue the first new media festival based Miami Florida. FilmGate Interactive Media Festival In 2017 Heiga Studios Audio Recordings Company and FilmGate Miami create The Downtown Media Center. The DMC provides local film businesses, film studios and creatives a central working and career enhancing center. FilmGate Miami will bring in low cost film and actor programs to assist in making South Florida a movie capital. More established businesses and filmmakers are offered membership plans to enhance their business with resources, film services discounts and low cost casting and shoot location space. We celebrate visual storytellers and supporting industries through screenings, exhibits, creative labs, master classes, immersive art installations, music, and live events. In 2018 After 6 years in Wynwood, FilmGate Miami's premier program IM NOT GONNA MOVE TO L.A. monthly film festival is welcomed to Silverspot Cinema Downtown Miami FilmGate Interactive is powered by the generous support of the John S. and James L.     11th FilmGate Interactive Media Festival 2024 Art x Tech: REWILDING December 4-8, 2024 Miami, FL Celebrating the Intersection of Art and Technology The 11th Annual FilmGate Interactive Media Festival (FGI XI) is returning with a dynamic lineup of immersive experiences, industry-leading panels, and international partnerships. This year's theme, REWILDING, showcases how immersive technology and generative AI can inspire innovation across storytelling, education, and wellbeing. For the first time, FGI XI will host North America’s inaugural immersive market, spotlighting groundbreaking projects and creators from around the world, including Canada, France, the French Caribbean, Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Brazil, Taiwan, and Colombia. Festival Highlights: Location: Frost Science Museum, Downtown Media Center, Miami World Center, Bass Museum Dates: Wednesday, December 4 – Sunday, December 8, 2024 Programming: 11 immersive experiences, 12 market experiences, live pitches, 10 panels and keynotes, 5 dome experiences, networking opportunities, and live events This year's festival includes a delegation of immersive indigenous artists from Ontario and Quebec, supported by the Canadian Government and NOCTURNE, an immersive salon, curated by Villa Albertine and FilmGate Interactive. Guests can also enjoy networking opportunities and unique experiences, including 5 dome presentations, Art Basel fair visits, and a closing Sunset Cruise on the bay.
