"#Womenshealth is having a moment (about time!) - but how do we make sure this moment stays as a movement?" - Michael Annichine, CEO of Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation Join us next month in Pittsburgh Nov 13-15th at the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation Summit— the world's largest research organization dedicated to #womenshealth and reproductive sciences - where FemTechnology Summit will be hosting a breakout session on how we can move from identifying gaps in women’s healthcare more broadly to implementing solutions for those gaps. Specifically we'll share how we can: 1. Leverage the knowledge we have: The issue isn’t always ‘not knowing,’ but that we are not applying what we do know about #womenshealth and sex & gender differences. How can we ensure existing research, clinical guidelines, and solutions are incorporated into women’s healthcare? 2. Address women’s health holistically: Women's health stretches beyond #menopause or #fertility. Sex differences affect every cell, and the current healthcare system fails to take that into account (part of the reason women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed following a heart attack) 3. Listen to the chief consumer and decision maker of healthcare (women!): In what industry would it make sense to discriminate and fail to take into account the needs of your largest audience? So instead of 'guessing' what women want (badly) - why not ask them directly? The patient journey and patient experience is the largest trove of untapped healthcare data. Why are we not capturing that experience to innovate and translate their experiences into actionable, measurable data and ultimately innovative solutions? At the Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation Summit, we'll be hosting a breakout session on moving from identifying gaps in women’s healthcare to implementing real solutions. Whether you're a researcher, clinician, or corporate leader, we need you to help make sure this moment becomes a movement! So please join us to learn how to make today's innovation shape tomorrow’s healthcare for women here: https://lnkd.in/esmiN2jP

"Come back if it gets worse", "It's all in your head", "You're too young to have that" - #mystoriesforchange called for the collection of stories of women across the globe to listen & understand their experiences with the healthcare system #XIndex visualizes the economic impact of ignoring those stories. And put quite simply: we cannot afford to ignore the health of women any longer. It is not only a moral imperative but an economic one. Honored that FemTechnology Summit had the chance to partner on Roche's campaign agin to bring attention to the #womenshealth gap & the very real & tangible impact it has on our society: if you open your eyes the impact is EVERYWHERE. For a deeper dive into more of these shocking statistics - you can view the #Xindex page which is now live: https://lnkd.in/e_y9vkWP ! 📣 #XIndex is live! For too long #womenshealth was invisible - but if you open your eyes the impact on our society is everywhere: 39.88 million years - the amount of time women of working age will lose to avoidable ill-health due to the gender health gap. $961,001,613,739 - the amount our economy will lose by 2040 due to the gender health gap. The global economy pays for every workday a woman can’t come to work because she is ill. These findings are corroborated by the recent NHS Confederation report released today highlighting that: 👉 for every £1 of public investment in OBGYN services per woman in England, there is an estimated ROI of £11. 👉If £1 per woman in England were invested in these services, the economy could benefit from an additional £319 million in total gross value added (GVA) 👉 £11 BILLION per year : the economic cost of absenteeism due to severe period pain, alongside endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts 👉 unemployment due to menopause symptoms has a direct economic impact of approximately £1.5 billion PER YEAR with 60,000 women in the UK not being in employment due to menopause symptoms More about the report here : https://lnkd.in/ggE9XgkK But the point is it's not just the UK, not just the US - it's everywhere and more important it impacts everyone, it impacts YOU -- For a deeper dive into more of these shocking statistics - you can view the #Xindex page which is now live: https://lnkd.in/e_y9vkWP ! We hope you will share this data far & wide Congratulations Roche on this next terrific chapter in #XProject - their long-term commitment to women's health - #TogetherForChange

As part of FemTechnology Summit 's work towards closing the #womenshealth gap, Oriana Kraft was excited to moderate a panel discussion at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University Women’s Health Symposium: Making Up for Lost Time, where we explored groundbreaking technologies being developed at the Wyss to advance women’s health such as: 👉Donald Ingber, M.D., Ph.D.'s transformative organ-chip technology which can be used to mimic female reproductive tract tissues & create realistic in vivo environments. This allows researchers to investigate a woman's unique response to drugs by using female-specific cells. 👉Potential for impact: Personalized women's healthcare as well as influence FDA policy by providing more accurate data on drug safety and efficacy in women.   👉 Christopher Chen's - Ropirio Therapeutics, Inc., which has just launched from the Wyss, having identified the first target that activates the lymphatic system. This activation improves lymphatic flow, modulates inflammation, and prevents fibrosis. 👉Jennifer Lewis & Ellen Roche - creating technologies tailored with women in mind: such as 3D Bioprinting of organs and medical implants (a pacemaker designed specifically for the female body!). 👉Rushdy Ahmad, PhD exploring biomarker discovery in breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancers, along with hormone-related diseases like endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to develop diagnostics that work well at scale & in the market & his collaborator @Daniel_cramer investigating epidemiologic and biologic markers related to the prevention and early detection of #ovariancancer. Tremendous congratulations to Adama Marie Sesay, Angelika Fretzen & Jonelle Prill-Tate for driving such powerful change & putting together such a terrific symposium! You can learn more about the terrific work the Wyss Institute at Harvard University is doing in women's health here : https://lnkd.in/em3zKsdP

🚨 Today is the day! 🚨 The Wyss Institute at Harvard University is hosting their #WomensHealth Catalyst Symposium: Making Up for Lost Time. The Wyss Institute is on a mission to close the gender gap in women’s health research and fast-track innovative solutions that address the unique needs of women. 🧬 What’s on the agenda? ReConstruct Bio: Patient-derived tissues for breast reconstruction (Luba Perry, PhD) Lactation Biologics: Boosting milk production for healthier babies, even in times of supply chain disruption Human Ovarian Organoids: Tackling the global infertility crisis …and much more! 📉 Why does it matter? The female genital tract is still one of the least understood structures in the human body. 5-10% of the U.S. population suffers from autoimmune conditions, and 80% of patients are women—but why? Gynecological cancers, like ovarian cancer, are far more lethal than many other cancers, yet receive far less funding. What if ovarian cancer became as survivable as prostate cancer? The future of personalized medicine for women starts with groundbreaking platforms like Organ Chips, which study female-specific responses to diseases and drugs. Fast-track your organization’s role in supporting life-saving research and unlocking next-generation therapies. #WomensHealth #Innovation #HealthcareTransformation #PersonalizedMedicine #WyssInstitute #ClosingTheGap

Did you know that women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed after a heart attack and 17% of premenopausal women are missing diabetes diagnoses in part because diagnostic thresholds are set too high because they are based on the male model. Our healthcare system, built with male biology as the default, leaves 51% of the population radically underserved. This results in widespread misdiagnoses, delayed treatments, and inadequate care—costing women their health and employers millions in productivity losses. 💡 At the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Annual Conference iyou’ll discover solutions to some of these challenges & learn how to redesign healthcare with women in mind from:  Mary Stutts, MHA, CEO, Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Stephanie Sassman, Women’s Health Portfolio Lead, Roche/Genentech Charlotte Owens, MD, FACOG Head of Medical Affairs, Organon Liza Vityuk, Partner, McKinsey & Company Oriana Kraft, Founder, FemTechnology Summit 🩺Now is the time to act. Women are demanding better care and employers who meet these needs will not only improve health outcomes but also attract and retain top female talent. #WomensHealth #FemTech #ClosingTheGap #HBAAC24 #HBAimpact #UNGA

Did you know we know more about dinosaurs, outer space and LeBron James’ off season diet than the female brain? Here’s the reality: • Over 50,000 neuroimaging studies have been published since 1995, yet only 0.5% focus on women’s health. • Even though Alzheimer’s disproportionately affects women, most research still uses male models, and the latest Alzheimer’s drug shows better results in men. The male body has been the default in research for far too long. It’s time for a revolution in neuroscience—one that values the health of both men and women equally. Watch this powerful video from the Ann S. Bowers Women's Brain Health Initiative, directed by WHAM’s Research Collaborative member, Emily Goard Jacobs, to learn why true progress in brain health will only happen when women are equally represented. 🎥 Video credit: Ann S. Will you be in NYC for #UNGA? Join the [w]Health community for a transformative conversation on #womenshealth! This year’s theme, “From Ambition to Action,” will highlight the journey from identifying healthcare gaps to implementing real-world solutions. 📉 Why It Matters:
The lack of comprehensive datasets on #womenshealth is a major barrier to progress. Without accurate data, we can’t fully understand the gaps or measure improvements, especially in the context of #AI, which risks solidifying outdated medical biases. This perpetuates suboptimal outcomes for women, delaying diagnosis, treatment, and care. 📣 What gets measured gets acted on — What We’ll Be Discussing: * How to effectively collect, measure, and integrate women’s health metrics to drive meaningful change within organizations. * How the 200+ organization-strong [w]Health community is transforming ambition into action by redesigning healthcare with women’s needs in mind. 🎤 Hear from leaders like: Paula Bellostas Muguerza (Global Lead Healthcare & Life Sciences, Kearney) Carolee Lee (CEO & Founder, Women's Health Access Matters) Stephanie Sassman (Women’s Health Portfolio Lead, Roche/Genentech) Oriana Kraft (Founder, FemTechnology Summit )
