In the US the DEA is threatening to limit the ability to prescribe controlled substances through telehealth appointments. This will have a negative impact for women and girls in rural areas, those without reliable transport to in-person visits, those working hourly wage jobs who cannot afford take off 2+ hours for appointments, and those who are actively caregiving for babies and elderly parents and needing help to care for themselves. This will have a negative impact on women who rely on telehealth to manage ADHD symptoms, mental health, perimenopause, insomnia and other conditions. 👀 Interesting censoring When we were trying to share a carousel highlighting women's health innovation, LinkedIn rejected our boost. We followed all the guidelines, removed emojis, checked the grammar and spelling, resubmitted 3 different times and protested. On a hunch, we changed this one image from the 20+ page carousel and resorted to euphemisms and a vague reference to 'imbalances' and bam- approval! Why not just state the rule and rejection premise LinkedIn? Instead of this: "Your ad was not approved for the following reasons The ad contains non standard text (examples: spelling error, grammar error, capitalization, punctuation, repetition, symbols, upside-down text, and non standard formatting). Learn more" We have real problem if the LI review committee is too uncomfortable to even say "we don't allow these words: vaginal microbiome". #censored #womenshealth
