Did you know that we are supported by a team of local Medical Directors? That’s right, a team of 27 doctors who live and work right here in our communities serve as Medical Directors for the health plan. Their work ensures that every one of our members is receiving equitable, high-quality care that’s as affordable as possible. This month let’s learn a little bit more about Dr. Fitzpatrick.

For Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Employee Paul Barone, The Walk to Defeat ALS is a way to give back to his community while helping to raise funds to support education, access to care, and advocacy of those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. We are proud of Paul’s commitment to The ALS Association and honored to join him in the work being done to defeat this disease and provide hope to people living with ALS and the families and friends who support them. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our Wellness and Resource Day to learn about on-site support available to help community members with inquiries about billing, insurance, Medicare, and more. We were excited to have our partners at Guthrie Lourdes Mobile Mammography Unit attending to highlight the importance of regular screenings and make it convenient for everyone to schedule a mammogram.

Costs aside, this can also have a big impact on businesses in the form of employee productivity. One of our members was preparing to travel to Florida for the winter but was concerned about finding and coordinating care with a new facility for his infusion treatment. Our Site of Care team stepped in and connected him with a home infusion agency that can provide care in both Florida and New York. Now, he never has to worry about missing his next dose.
