  • Are you looking to understand the drivers of cybersecurity growth? Here’s what you need to know 👇 The number of publicly listed Cybersecurity companies has been declining due to take private activity and a slow IPO market over the last few years. While there are several well run mature publicly companies in this category to invest in, growth rates have recently declined. Bottom line. When it comes to hyper growth activity, the action is in the private markets. We have observed that while public companies typically grow below 20% YoY, companies in the private market grow at 30%, 100%, 200%, or even 300% annual rates due to:  - Emerging business models - Underlying technological advancements - Constantly changing market dynamics.  Depending on risk profile and desired exposure, private market Cybersecurity opportunities present attractive opportunity for investors. At Evolution Equity Partners, we aim to identify, invest in, and support promising Cybersecurity companies founded by best-in-class entrepreneurs solving today’s most pressing cyber challenges. Our work is to provide expertise and capital to help grow today's most innovative growth and early growth stage Cybersecurity companies into the most sustainable public companies of tomorrow. • Tim Brown, SolarWinds VIP of Security and CISO:  Now on Cytactic's Advisory Board Tim's landmark case highlights how cybersecurity crisis management over-relies on individual expertise rather than technology, forcing CISOs to navigate unclear expectations and personal liability risks amid fluctuating global regulations. The solution? Cytactic: an Evolution portfolio company and the first unified crisis management and readiness platform delivering a calming 'command center order' to the chaotic nature of every crisis. Recently designed and tailored to every industry, Cytactic is revolutionizing the cyber crisis space. It provides organizations with a well-informed, data-driven digital partner, capable of managing simulations and readiness testing to provide guidance that can be relied upon at critical times. As the industry grapples with the implications of cases like Tim Brown's, solutions like Cytactic become increasingly crucial. "Today's technology platforms could have streamlined the way my team and I addressed the SUNBURST incident, improving the overall response and reducing its impact," says Tim. Cytactic's CEO, Nimrod Kozlovski, understands that by embracing systemic, technology-driven approaches, we're not just enhancing cybersecurity - we're reshaping how organizations respond to crises, protect their assets, and safeguard their leaders. • Meta's use of UK Facebook and Instagram users’ public posts to train its AI models raises an important debate about privacy on social media. In a way, social media companies already process (and profit from) large amounts of user data. The difference here is the scale and speed of the phenomenon due to more powerful and sophisticated AI systems. Meta claims this will help AI "reflect British culture, history, and idiom" and says it has "incorporated regulatory feedback" to be even more transparent in its approach.¹ Users can always opt-out and retrieve consent through an "opt-out" button and must formally object if they don’t want their data used. Critics argue that an "opt-in" button is more considerate towards users’ privacy, as it doesn’t assume consent by default. Still, the company relies on "legitimate interest" as the legal basis for data collection. As Meta aggregates vast amounts of public data, the risk of model manipulation and pollution grows, mainly due to politically motivated actors seeking opportunities to disrupt the social discourse. While this represents an opportunity for cybersecurity companies to provide AI-native security tools, there is no doubt Meta faces a challenging strategic decision that could risk social media users’ trust at scale, their cybersecurity posture, compliance budget, and market position in the AI race. Are 𝘺𝘰𝘶 OK with social media companies processing your data in their AI systems? #cybersecurity #privacy #defendandprotect #socialmedia ¹ Read more: https://lnkd.in/g_j3bZWX

  • ~30% of today's Internet traffic comes from malicious bots. The recent $25M Hong Kong Arup breach serves as a stark reminder that #deepfake attacks are not just theoretical threats but represent immediate financial risks to enterprises. Evolution Equity Partners’ portfolio company Beyond Identity takes an innovative approach to deepfake breach prevention through RealityCheck, a product that prevents unauthorized access through a combination of biometric verification and hardware passkeys. The solution authenticates both users and devices in video conferencing sessions, providing administrators with tamper proof risk signals and the ability to revoke access in real-time. This prevention-first strategy addresses a critical gap in current IAM infrastructure, which, as many of us have observed, struggles to cope with the sophistication of modern authentication attacks. Beyond Identity brings innovative thinking and scalable enterprise solutions that are very much needed to address emerging AI-enabled threats these days. Kudos to Jim Clark. Jasson Casey and Thomas Jermoluk for contributing to the cybersecurity sector with your outstanding expertise and commitment to #defendandprotect our digital world. I encourage our community to closely monitor this shift from detection to prevention in the deepfake security space. For those interested in learning more, I recommend reaching out to Beyond Identity for a technical deep dive into their authentication framework: www.beyondidentity.com #cybersecurity #defendandprotect #deepfake #identity #digitalidentity Follow Evolution Equity Partners for regular insights on Cybersecurity and Venture Capital.

What is Operational Technology (OT), and how does it differ from IT? 💻 IT networks handle data and communications like email, databases, and websites. ⚒️ OT directly interfaces with 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 processes and machinery:  - Manufacturing plants (controlling assembly lines, robots, machinery) - Power plants and electrical grids - Water treatment facilities - Oil and gas facilities - Transportation systems - Factory floors. Securing OT networks prevents breaches that could lead to physical damage, environmental hazards, or even human safety threats, rather than data loss or system downtime that typically results from IT security breaches. We commend the Australian Cyber Security Centre and other Government agencies for taking a proactive approach and releasing guidelines for securing OT networks. Some of these guidelines include:   - Implementing zero trust principles in OT environments - Conducting regular security audits - Paying attention to OT-specific threat intelligence - Addressing the problem of multiple remote-access tools (a Claroty study found over half of systems used 4+ tools better suited for IT rather than OT, resulting in increased risk exposure) - Improving visibility of weaknesses introduced by mixing IT and OT systems. On that front, we want to emphasize our commitment to supporting companies dedicated to securing OT systems worldwide. Our portfolio company Phosphorus Cybersecurity Inc. is a prime example, proactively and safely reducing the risk of compromise for IoT, OT, IIoT, and IoMT devices through its Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Protection Platform. #cybersecurity #ot #operationaltech #defendandprotect #saas

Anthropic's newly released Claude 3.5 Computer Use is incredible. Its impact on front-office productivity goes far beyond imagination. However, having LLMs automate desktop tasks introduces security risks that should be considered early on. Prompts to encrypt files could become the next ransomware; prompts to access online banking could elevate banking trojans to new heights; CAPTCHAs may no longer pose a challenge, and so on. This all points to the future need for EDRs to intercept and assess prompts to locally running LLMs and their outcomes on the desktop—a new attack vector for EDRs to handle. Cybersecurity is getting more exciting every day! #LLM #AI #centerofexcellence https://lnkd.in/dCCrbFrf
