Jax & a heartfelt thank you note: powerful reminders of why careers in veterinary medicine are so impactful. 💚 While hiking, he lost control of his back legs and was rushed to Animal Emergency & Referral Associates emergency department. An MRI revealed spinal cord compression and hemorrhage from T13-L4. With a 50/50 chance of success, surgery was a tough decision, but Jax’s mom chose to go for it. Jax underwent a Hemilaminectomy and immediately began physical therapy. It was a challenging 15 months, but Jax’s determination and the team’s expertise paid off—he’s walking again! 🙌 In gratitude, Jax’s mom sent flowers, a card, and cake to the AERA team. The team was deeply moved, sharing joyful tears as they said their heartfelt goodbyes, having become an integral part of Jax and his family’s journey. This touching reunion is a testament to the dedication and heart of our veterinary teams. Each day, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families, and stories like Jax’s remind us of the profound impact we can have. This year, IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital was honored to conduct an educational session and practical training focused on K9 tactical medical care. Led by their very own, Hanna, RVT, VTS, the program was tailored for members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan K9 Unit, Emergency Medical Technicians, Indiana State Police, and SWAT K9 officers. The training aimed to empower these professionals with crucial skills for managing emergency situations involving K9 officers. The curriculum included essential topics such as CPR, bandaging techniques, treatment of evisceration wounds, and management of gunshot and stab injuries. We’re proud to have hospitals that contribute to the safety and well-being of K9 officers, ensuring they receive the highest level of care when it’s needed most. Jameson's Irish eyes had to be shielded from his bright future. 😎 💪 When Jameson began his rehabilitation at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital 7 months ago, he was struggling with being overweight and weak, making simple tasks like getting up or taking short walks a challenge. Thanks to their dedicated Physical Rehabilitation and Pain Management team, Jameson has made incredible strides. He’s now a leaner, livelier pup who you might have seen recently, hopping out of the car and trotting into the hospital with his tail wagging! His family is overjoyed to see him back to enjoying his favorite activities and keeping up with his human siblings.
