Our ERA Live Moore Q3 2024 Market Report for McDowell and Burke Counties is now available. As we share these insights, we’re mindful of the resilience and strength of our communities in the wake of Hurricane Helene. This report reflects the pre-hurricane market, offering a snapshot of where we stood before the storm affected local lives and businesses. In McDowell County, the Median Sales Price was $290,000, a slight decrease of 2.6% year-over-year, with the Average Sales Price at $370,044. Inventory rose by 26.2%, creating opportunities for buyers, even as the market navigated a slower pace, with Days on Market increasing by 69.4% to 52 days. In Burke County, the market remained steady, with the Median Sales Price at $260,000, down 5.5%, while the Average Sales Price rose modestly by 2.5% to $330,024. Inventory saw a significant increase of 75.2%, reflecting strong buyer interest in this scenic area. Debris removal in McDowell County is underway as we continue to recover from Hurricane Helene. AshBritt and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are leading efforts to clear storm debris in affected areas, beginning in Old Fort, Old Hwy 70, Mill Creek Road, and Graphite Road. Additional communities, including Crooked Creek, will be included soon. For Residents: Please place debris within 10 feet of the right-of-way on primary or secondary roads, sorting by type: vegetative, construction materials, appliances, electronics, and hazardous waste. Remember, bagged household trash won’t be collected with debris and should be disposed of through regular trash services. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will continue debris pickup across the county in phases, with multiple teams covering specific debris categories. As McDowell County moves forward in Hurricane Helene recovery, several resources and events are here to support our community: Duke Energy Assistance: Representatives are available at the McDowell County Senior Center (100 Spaulding Rd.) to assist with payment arrangements and service restoration, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rotary Club Auction: Out of respect for recent events, the Rotary Club of Marion has rescheduled its October auction to February 2025, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting local needs in McDowell County. Early Voting: Early voting is open at the McDowell County Board of Elections through Nov. 2. Please note, the Old Fort Depot will not be used this year due to storm impacts. Community Donations: Loving Hearts BEAR Closet is accepting essential items like blankets, batteries, and cleaning supplies for those impacted by the storm. Donations can be made at 337 Garden Creek Road, Marion. Dia de Muertos Festival: Join us on Nov. 2 for a day of cultural celebration and remembrance in downtown Marion.
