Have you ever caught yourself saying “I’m sorry” before you ask a question or share an idea? I often hear founders apologizing for asking a question or taking up time. Not only does it undermine our authority and confidence, there’s also nothing you need to be sorry for when you ask questions or share ideas. Here’s a reframe you can use if you catch yourself about to speak or type "sorry": ❌ "Sorry for the late reply" ✅"Thank you for your patience" ❌ "Sorry to bother you" ✅ "I appreciate your time" ❌"Sorry, can I add something?" ✅ "I'd like to build on that idea" ❌"Sorry, I have a question?" ✅ "I have a question as I’d love to learn more" Let’s eliminate “I’m sorry” from our vocabulary, unless you truly have something to apologize for, and I can tell you that asking questions and sharing your experience is not something you need to be sorry for. Remember, people are fortunate to have the opportunity to hear your ideas and answer questions, it’s how we all are able to learn and grow together.
