Member Energy Vault has announced new project financing initiatives for its asset portfolio and also announced an expansion in Australia. Energy Vault will provide project financing for the Calistoga Resiliency Centre, a first-of-its-kind hybrid hydrogen and battery energy storage system in Calistoga, CA, that is under long-term contract with utility Pacific Gas and Electric Company. By combining hydrogen and lithium-ion batteries, the 293 MWh system is designed to provide 48 hours of continuous energy with a peak instantaneous power of 8.5 MW during shutoff events. With initial project financing expected by year-end, the Calistoga facility will support a #carbon-free, community-scale microgrid capable of storing and dispatching #renewable energy to local communities. Energy Vault also announced the expansion of its operations in Australia with plans to deploy two large-scale #battery energy storage systems to support the 720 MW New England solar project near Uralla in New South Wales, with commercial operations expected to start in 2025 and 2026. As part of these efforts, the organisation is accelerating its “Own & Operate IPP” strategy to accelerate the scaling of its asset base and provide greater efficiencies in its capital deployment and resource allocation strategies. With #LDES we can enhance grid reliability and flexibility by effectively storing and dispatching renewable energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and paving the way for a #sustainable clean energy future. The #Time4Action is now to ensure #3xRenewables by 2030. To learn more, click below:
