This Sunday, January 12th, is National Pharmacists Day. On this day, we celebrate the incredible work that pharmacists do every day to improve patient health outcomes and ensure safe, effective medication use. Pharmacists are at the center of EmpiRx Health’s PBM care model. They ensure clinically appropriate care for our members, and help our clients to substantially reduce their drug spending and costs. Let’s take a moment to thank and recognize the dedicated pharmacists who go above and beyond to support patients and communities! #Healthcare #Pharmacists #NationalPharmacistsDay

The traditional PBM industry is focused on chasing drug volumes and rebates, prioritizing profits over patients. In fact, with their emphasis on financial trading and arbitrage, the largest PBMs today act more like Wall Street firms than healthcare companies. EmpiRx Health stands apart as a clinically-driven pharmacy care company that puts pharmacists at the center of its model. Our pharmacist-led pharmacy care is designed to optimize patient health outcomes and well-being while generating significant, sustainable cost savings for our clients. A huge thank you to the pharmacy benefits consultants and advisors who joined us for EmpiRx Health's first-ever Clinically Powered Summit earlier this month in Orlando! Our team was thrilled to host you for this important event in which we discussed how to continue improving pharmacy care for patients, plan sponsors, and all stakeholders. Looking to the new year ahead, we look forward to deepening our mutually-beneficial partnership with you and all our consultants and advisor partners. Given the growing momentum around PBM reform, 2025 is shaping up to be a very consequential year for the pharmacy benefits care industry, While we couldn’t accommodate all those who wanted to join us FL, we’re already starting to plan our 2025 summit and are excited to welcome even more of our consultants and advisor colleagues to next year’s event. If you're interested in being part of our 2025 pharmacy consultant/advisor summit, we'd love to hear from you – contact us today! https://lnkd.in/eeiGZpxM #ClinicallyPowered #Summit #PharmacyBenefits

Drug Store News, the leading trade publication for the pharmacy industry, especially pharmacy and grocery chains, recently published a guest column by Danny S., CEO of EmpiRx Health. In his “Last Word” guest column, Danny discusses how EmpiRx Health is partnering with pharmacy chains to transform the broken PBM model, which traditionally has worked against the best interests of pharmacies and their patients and employees. As has been well documented in pending Congressional legislation and major media exposes (e.g., the New York Times series on PBMs), the big three PBMs pose an existential threat to community pharmacies and have been responsible for forcing many of them out of business. The result is that there is a growing number of communities across America that no longer have ready access to the trusted and affordable healthcare provided by community pharmacies. Danny’s guest column discusses the need for a new clinically-driven, value-based PBM model that partners with pharmacy and grocery chains to benefit patients, plan sponsors, and especially pharmacies, who are essential to the nation’s healthcare system. In the Drug Store News column, Danny said: “EmpiRx Health has been actively partnering with industry thought leaders, key legislators, regulators, and forward-thinking pharmacy chains on a framework for real change and transparency. There is a growing consensus that it just does not make sense anymore for pharmacy organizations to award their business to PBMs who are working against their best interests, and those of their key stakeholders.” To read the full guest column, click here. https://lnkd.in/gsjiU7F6 #PBMs #Healthcare #Pharmacy

An article published by STAT this week discusses the latest progress in Congress to address some of the more egregious business practices of the large, legacy PBM companies. According to the STAT article, as part of a year-end government funding package, there was agreement to fund public health programs, extend telehealth flexibilities, and implement long sought PBM reform measures. The article states: “The policies in the package would put guardrails around how PBMs can operate. Measures expected to be included would prohibit PBMs from linking their payments to drug prices in Medicare, increase transparency, and regulate how PBMs get paid for drugs by Medicaid programs.” At EmpiRx Health, we strongly support PBM reform legislation and urge Congress to take swift action. Our CEO Danny S. recently commented on these PBM reform efforts: “EmpiRx Health is committed to helping solve the massive problem of rising drug costs. However, implementing real changes that benefit patients, plan sponsors and other stakeholders requires transforming the legacy PBM operating model with meaningful reform legislation at the federal and state levels. We are hopeful that the actions agreed-to in this funding bill will accelerate vital progress on PBM reform.” Read the full STAT article here: https://lnkd.in/gBzsv7F8 #STAT #PBM #Healthcare
