🚨 Webinar alert 🚨 Join us on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 9am EDT | 3pm CEST for the fourth in a series of webinars focused on partnerships and stakeholder management in the National Public Health Institute (NPHI) setting, featuring insights from public health practitioners and researchers from Zambia, Jordan, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The series is focused on organizational development and how various frameworks and tools can be applied in the NPHI setting and addresses areas related to strategic planning; workforce strategy and development; partnership assessment and mapping; and change management. Objectives of the webinar series are for NPHIs to discuss their experiences working in the domains, share best practices, discuss possible solutions to challenges faced, and touch upon the importance of NPHIs investing in these areas. This webinar series is a collaboration between IANPHI and the Building Capacity for National Public Health Institutes Project, which is funded by the U.S. CDC and led by researchers in the Department of International Health at the Bloomberg School. NEW HIV POLICY BRIEFS describe HIV at an Inflection Point and raise important questions to guide global and U.S. HIV prevention and care goals. Experts conclude that this moment demands that all stakeholders affirm their commitment to the long-term effort to support all people with #HIV and the people and places for whom HIV remains a serious threat. Last week, O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center, in partnership with the Emory Global Health Institute, released a series of three policy briefs titled HIV at an Inflection Point. These briefs follow a convening of experts and consultative process with people living with HIV, as well as community, government, corporate, and philanthropic stakeholders, to examine progress toward HIV prevention and care goals. Dialogues yielded big questions from stakeholders captured in O’Neill’s Big Ideas in Briefs, namely:  - Will we keep innovating to develop better prevention and treatment tools and ultimately a cure?  - Will we keep expanding access to health care and social services?  - Will we keep removing the scourge of a global crisis? OR - Will we accept persistent disparities, increased polarization, and reduced commitment that results in more HIV and greater challenges? “INSPIRE was a catalyst in my journey to becoming a physician… and I can say with confidence that infectious diseases (ID) is now one of my top specialties of interest,” says Yasha Joseph, INSPIRE pilot participant. Thanks to support from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), 48 undergraduate students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in ID research will gain experience and mentorship from Emory University faculty through the INSPIRE program. The five-year grant is administered by TREE at Emory Global Health Institute and supported by the Emory University Laney Graduate School Summer Opportunity for Graduate Research (LGS-SOAR), and the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University School of Medicine.
