Congratulations to Tamika Knight! We're excited to see a dedicated educator at our grantee school receive this Teacher of the Month recognition.
✨ Exciting news from Middle Years Alternative Academy! ✨ Tamika Knight, a science and social studies teacher at Middle Years Alternative (MYA), has just been awarded Teacher of the Month in a surprise ceremony! Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington presented Ms. Knight with this well-deserved recognition at the school yesterday, where he commented on her commitment to enhancing educational resources through various partnerships and STEM education. “She brings lots of resources into the school in partnership with Arcadia University, other partners, and she really helps our kids get exposed to STEM: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She’s just an all around star teacher.” With 26 years of teaching experience, Ms. Knight brings invaluable expertise to MYA to help students thrive. Her dedication to her school and her students is truly a testament to the importance of having motivated, passionate teachers in our Philadelphia schools. Ms. Knight emulates what it means to be a Philadelphia teacher through her motivation and passion for serving her students. MYA serves grades 6-8 in West Philadelphia, and their teachers focus on developing critical thinking and problem solving skills in their students to prepare them for secondary education. Educators at MYA are deeply invested in ensuring their students succeed both academically and socially.
