This past Monday evening, our CEO, Lisa Williams, joined Patagonia’s CEO, Ryan Gellert, and Axios senior business reporter, Hope King, for a conversation on how businesses are driving innovative solutions to advance their climate goals. The discussion was part of the Axios House programming during Climate Week at the UN General Assembly. Early in the conversation, Lisa remarked, “We try to make sustainable decisions all day, every day, but the idea of being a sustainable company is really not possible. Being a responsible company and doing the best that we can to prove out the business model is the point.” During the 25-minute conversation, the CEOs covered topics such as resale, conscious consumption, and how both companies are working to boost voter turnout, encouraging people to align their values with their choices in the upcoming election. 100% of the cotton in our line is organic. We can do better. We’re working toward a higher standard—Regenerative Organic Certified® cotton that nurtures soil health and biodiversity. Not only is Regenerative Organic Certified® cotton completely traceable from the fields to the factory and grown without hazardous pesticides or herbicides, it goes a step further: It’s cultivated using farming methods that enrich the soil. Equally important, it supports the well-being of farmers and surrounding communities. For us, the program isn’t just another certification—it’s a holistic way of thinking that puts the health of people and planet first. Visit the Journal and check out the Regenerative Organic Alliance to learn more.

In honor of Juneteenth, the Black Employee Resource Group at EILEEN FISHER organized a day centered around joy for our employees. At our Irvington headquarters, we enjoyed a live performance by Mala Waldron, pianist and jazz musician, and heard inspiring words from Auzerais Bellamy, founder of Blondery, who shared her entrepreneurial story with us. Attendees were able to enjoy delicious cookies by Blondery and red-colored treats in honor of the day. On this day that represents freedom and equality, we hope you will join us in reflecting on the progress and opportunities to advance equity in our communities. https://lnkd.in/exwutV_K

Global Fashion Agenda recently held its 2024 Summit in Copenhagen, bringing industry professionals together to address the critical intersection of sustainability and fashion. Those in attendance acknowledged the detrimental impacts of apparel manufacturing and shared both successes and setbacks in a collaborative effort to move the industry forward. The subject of transformation was threaded throughout the two days -- transformation of mindset, values, behaviors, and business models. But real transformation (defined as dramatic, profound change, metamorphosis) is no small task. When was the last time you experienced a complete metamorphosis? We know the profound changes needed are not happening at the pace and scale of the growing environmental and social challenges. 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 “I’ll ask the same question I asked 5 years ago - do you care? Transforming ourselves is at the core of any corporate transformation.” Paul Polman, Businessperson and Author “We (the apparel sector) have the solutions…we don’t have the will and that’s what’s got to change.” Ryan Gellert, CEO Patagonia “Collaboration can be a fig leaf for inaction. We are not transforming.” Peder Michael Anker Jørgensen, Sustainable Strategy Advisor “How products are designed is essential, but we also need to look at the bigger picture: How we design our entire business.” eva karlsson, Houdini While large scale transformation remains elusive, there were sparks of change at Copenhagen with the recognition of emerging best practices.
