🌟 Embarking on a Journey of Education, Belonging, and Community🌟 Our project, "An Educator's Guide to Orange County," evolved from our growing appreciation for the importance of place-based pedagogy, a concept we deeply valued but had no name for. It was through the guidance and clarity provided by Cathlin Goulding, Ed.D. the co-founder of YURI Education Project, and her workshop at the Teaching for Justice Conference that we gained a newfound understanding of its significance. Dr. Goulding not only named this approach but also provided a clear framework that illuminated its power in connecting past, present, and physical space, fostering a profound sense of belonging for all. With unwavering dedication, a group of passionate educators, scholars, archivists, and authors joined forces, securing the National Writing Project Grant, "A More Perfect National Endowment of the Humanities." Through a year of dreaming, collaborating, and learning, we've proudly launched the Educators Guide to OC https://lnkd.in/gAhcyhHm, declaring our shared commitment to inclusive, empowering education and nurturing a genuine sense of belonging. ✨ Sharing Our Journey ✨ As we prepare to unveil our journey at California Council for the Social Studies, our hearts are filled with gratitude and inspiration. We're eager to share our insights and resources, hoping to empower others to replicate our model of place-based pedagogy and ethnic studies. Join us as we continue to explore, learn, and celebrate the vibrant diversity of Orange County's history and community. Don't miss our walking tour of Little Saigon on Sunday—it's a wonderful opportunity to experience and celebrate our vibrant community together!
