  • Did you know that 1 in 5 Californians have a criminal record? 📊 Every year, approximately 60k formerly incarcerated individuals return to their homes in LA County, and with the biases against those with criminal records, talented individuals with valuable skills are often unfairly overlooked for employment opportunities. 🚶♂️💼 It’s time to change this. LA County’s Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, unanimously passed by the Board of Supervisors this February and now in effect as of September 3rd, provides rights, protections, and enforcement mechanisms for persons with criminal histories looking for a job in the unincorporated areas of LA County. 📜🔍 The Ordinance is part of Supervisor @hollyjmitchell and @hildasolis' vision to build equity standards by prohibiting employers from discouraging individuals with a criminal history from applying for a job. It also makes it easier to file complaints against discriminatory hiring practices by employers with 5 or more employees performing at least 2 hours of work on average each week. ⚖️ Having championed the Fair Chance Hiring Campaigns since 2019, Team DEO will continue to ensure impacted businesses receive the information they need to become compliant and inform individuals of their rights under the Ordinance. 💪 To learn more, visit bit.ly/DEOFairChance. Our county partners at @lacountydcba will enforce the Fair Chance Ordinance for employers. Complaints against employers can be filed here: https://lnkd.in/g_waN3QK 📝
