DTE crews have responded in force to help those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, starting even before the hurricane hit, when we released 500 contract lineworkers and tree trimmers to make their way south to aid in restoration. Today, an additional 100 DTE lineworkers and support personnel are on their way to join in this massive power restoration effort. We wish all our team members success in their vital work, along with a safe trip back home.

We're making significant advancements in our clean energy journey, with six solar parks currently under construction throughout Michigan. Together, these new solar parks will generate enough clean energy to power more than 220,000 homes. This demand for clean energy comes from nearly 100,000 residential and 1,200 business customers who are using MIGreenPower to reduce their personal environmental impact while supporting the development of new renewable energy projects right here in Michigan. For the third time this year, we broke ground on a new solar park in Michigan. On Wednesday, local officials and business leaders from Isabella County joined us to celebrate our new Mission Road Solar Park. Once operational, the park will generate 158 megawatts of clean energy – enough to power nearly 40,000 Michigan homes. The Mission Road park will be more than three times larger than our current largest solar park.

Our partnership with the The Engineering Society of Detroit is helping to develop Michigan’s next generation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) talent. Watch this story from Chuck Stokes’ Spotlight on the News to learn more about this program inspiring our youth: https://lnkd.in/eeXdh3fi

For over a century, The Engineering Society of Detroit’s mission of investing in future #engineers and creating opportunities includes win-win partnerships with educators and industry to develop and mentor #Michigan’s next generation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) talent. As part of this mission, we've partnered with universities and industry leaders to introduce underserved Detroit youth to #STEM through hands-on immersive learning, led by diverse educators and mentors. This summer, we’re proud to see these efforts come full circle by graduating our first cohort of participants in the Girls in Engineering Academy (GEA), who began in 2017. Simultaneously, we launched the Boys in Engineering Academy (BEA) program with over 20 young men eager to learn more about STEM. Both programs aim to close the STEM learning and post-secondary achievement gaps of underrepresented groups to ensure tomorrow’s engineers, scientists, technology and math experts reflect the rich diversity in communities across our state. Special thanks to Chuck Stokes, WXYZ Detroit, for featuring The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD.org) on yesterday’s “Spotlight on the News”. The segment highlighted ESD’s efforts to bring STEM learning and career opportunities to fruition, inspiring the next generation to pursue their passion for STEM and filling the pipeline of technical talent in the region. Watch the segment, which includes dialog with ESD’s Executive Director Robert Magee, DTE Energy’s Frenae F. Smith, FESD, and GEA and BEA representatives Amara and Cedric Small.
