The DLM Experience is how we go about providing freshly prepared foods. To start, the magic happens right where we sell it. Each store has a full Kitchen on site, which prepares all of the Flavor First foods that have catapulted DLM to a gourmet hub of Made Right Here favorites. We don’t have a mysterious central kitchen far away supplying us with foods made days before we receive them. We roll up our sleeves and get busy, with skilled and talented cooks in each one of our stores’ Kitchens. Every single day from morning to evening, there is baking, roasting, braising, sautéing, poaching, steaming, and frying taking place! Our homemade soups, dips, Deli salads, quiches, and ready-made foods in our Gourmet Takeaway, such as entrées, side dishes, and so much more, are Made Right Here fresh at each store where you find it. We’re excited to shine a spotlight on this delicious new loaf from the creative minds in the DLM Bakehouse—DLM Artisan Apple Cider Sourdough! Our artisan bread bakers add locally grown Red Fife Flour from Branstrator Farm, DLM 100% Apple Cider, and morsels of apple to our sourdough starter before kneading and shaping the dough by hand. The loaves are dusted with flour and baked in our European hearth ovens until the crust reaches golden brown perfection. Each slice is a celebration of the harvest season, boasting a sweet and tangy flavor that’s excellent slathered with a really good butter, topped with soft-ripened cheese, or spread with DLM Apple Butter. Did you see our DLM Umbrella Brigade in Monday’s Holiday at Home Parade? We have an absolute blast each year participating, which is a 25+ year tradition for us! It’s the DLM associates though who make it happen when it comes to this fully choreographed routine, led by our longtime choreographer and friend Barbara Rethlake. With 75+ associates participating this year as well as a few volunteers from our Consumer Advisory Board, it certainly was a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
