Today, our leaders at Dominion Hospital were honored to receive a large donation of books, games and puzzles by a former patient, Taylor Ragano who was crowned Ms. Virginia North America 2024, and who has created the Boredom Relief Program. Taylor created The Boredom Relief Program to help provide a diversion for mental health patients and bring them together as a community. Since today is also World Mental Health Day, we hope this program will raise awareness of mental health issues and supportive initiatives around the world. In Taylor’s words, “My aim is to relieve stress and loneliness for patients and to provide them with comfort and distractions during their stay. Sometimes the simplest moments can be the most beneficial.” Read Taylor’s complete story here: https://bit.ly/3ZVqVCP

Fatma Nasser, RN, has dedicated her life to making a positive impact. Growing up in a war zone, she witnessed emotional trauma and recognized the vital role nurses play in providing compassionate care during vulnerable moments. At 16, Fatma worked as a nursing assistant at a children’s hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. For the past eight years, she has made a difference as a children’s behavioral health nurse at Dominion Hospital: “I am passionate about helping young patients and their families navigate the complexities of mental health challenges,” said Fatma. “Seeing our patients overcome their fears, develop trust, and form meaningful connections with us is a constant reminder of the profound impact that our healthcare team has on the children and adolescents on our unit.” According to one of her nurse colleagues, Fatma embodies the spirit of nursing. “She cares deeply for her patients, her peers and the entire hospital."
