For many of our Dog Tag Alumni, their time in the military builds the foundation for them to continue to thrive in their communities long after their service. DC Cohort 5 Alum and Army Veteran Nnana (Obi) Obioha is committed to a culture of service and tries to foster a value system that was instilled in him during his time in the military. Obi says, "Service is being reliable, dependable, accountable. As I am those things, I receive those things back to myself. If I’m serving the universe, the universe will serve me back." Through volunteer work at The Mission Continues, volunteering in Lagos, Nigeria, and more Obi is committed to this culture of service– serving others and yourself. Dog Tag Bakery, a Washington D.C.-based non-profit, is more than just a place for coffee. It also serves as an entrepreneurship program for veterans with service-connected disabilities. Describing itself as a "living business school," Dog Tag Bakery is designed to support veterans dealing with both visible and invisible wounds. The organization's mission is to help veterans transition back to civilian life after their military service. The five-month fellowship program offers veterans, spouses, and caregivers the chance to take courses in business, storytelling, mindfulness and more.

DC Cohort 3 Alum peter scott used his military experience and the tools he gained in the Dog Tag Fellowship Program to launch his non-profit, Fields 4 Valor Farms, shortly after graduating from our program. Fields 4 Valor Farms Inc. is dedicated to ending hunger for veterans while providing them with an enriching and healing space to learn about farming.
