When you finalize your divorce, your settlement agreement can still be changed depending upon life circumstances. Some factors like losing a job, getting a promotion, or even a child going off to college can be cause for altering the terms surrounding alimony, child support or custody terms, or marital property division. If you have experienced one of these extenuating life changes and need assistance with post-divorce modification, contact the experts at Divorce Matters®. 📞 (720) 943-7625 ⚖️ https://t.ly/uX3nY #DivorceMatters #WhatMattersMost #DivorceAttorney #ColoradoAttorney #GreenwoodVillage #Denver #ColoradoSprings #FortCollins #ColoradoLaw #ChildSupport #FamilyLaw #Divorce #TheDivorceMattersDifference #PostDivorceModificaiton

It’s common that clients want to avoid a lengthy and costly divorce settlement. Luckily, in Colorado, you are able to reach an out-of-court settlement with your spouse during the divorce process. This allows you to agree on divorce terms through an attorney, instead of going in front of a judge who would otherwise decide for you. The court will then determine if the agreed settlement is fair for both parties. You can also obtain an uncontested divorce by reaching an agreement at any point in this process. If you settle before filing, a divorce settlement agreement is made and a "Decree of Dissolution of Marriage" can be issued after the 91-day waiting period. This can also avoid court appearances if both parties have an attorney and there are no children involved. Divorce rates have been falling for the last few decades, and here are a few potential reasons as to why: • People are marrying later in life, which can indicate greater maturity and relationship readiness. • More couples are choosing to cohabitate before marriage, which can help them identify potential problems earlier. • Economic factors like changes in employment opportunities may influence decisions about marriage and divorce. • The marriage rate is dropping as well – as marriage rates decline, people who do get married tend to make better choices about their partner and their lives together. • Alcohol consumption, which has been linked to increased relationship problems, has reduced in the past 10 years. No matter what happens in your marriage, Divorce Matters® is here for you whenever you need us to help with divorce, alimony, child matters, and so much more. Many things are taken into consideration when negotiating the terms of your alimony payments. Doug Thomas, founding partner, gave us the inside scoop in the latest question and answer session. “There are definitely commonly forgotten factors that are brought in when calculating alimony. One is the 40% rule, which suggests a starting point by taking 40% of the higher-earning spouse's income and subtracting 50% of the lower-earning spouse's income, but is not always used. Taxable deductions for the paying spouse compared to the income of the earner, and inherited and premarital assets, are also things that can help determine alimony amounts.” You need a knowledgeable attorney to help you achieve the best-case scenario in your divorce – you need Divorce Matters®.
