Put something new in my tool kit today. I just listened to a webinar on Neourdiversity in the Workforce. It was a very good webinar. Neurodiversity is the diversity of human minds and the fact that brains and neurocognition vary among all individuals. Some things you can do for neurodiversity is next time you have a meeting welcome people to stand if they need to. When you have a meeting sometimes we think of a cafeteria or eating establishment but that person may not do well with noise. Next time be sure to ask their meeting environment preference. Maybe start an ERG for people willling to share. Educate your staff on this. Sometimes it’s the little things we don’t think about.

Community outreach and giving back is an important part of DSI’s business. As one of the Emerald Sponsor Diversified Systems supported the Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day Party fundraiser for A Kid Again which was a big success. Special thanks to the committee members who were awesome and to all the sponsors who supported the cause. Such a great feeling being able to help provide adventures for families with children who have a potentially life threatening illness. Giving those families the opportunity to just take a break from the everyday pressure of handling those illnesses is rewarding. A fun evening had by all!!

This happens in client meetings, in negotiations, or even casual conversations. We get so focused on what we want to say next that we miss key points the other person is making. Here’s a situation I dealt with: I was in a meeting with a potential client, excited to showcase my services. Halfway through, I realized I had been so focused on pushing my points across that I wasn’t actually listening to their concerns. As a result, I missed out on addressing the real problem they needed solved. After that experience, I made it a point to slow down and actively listen before responding. 🔑 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲: I began using the “80/20 rule” in conversations—spending 80% of the time listening and only 20% speaking. When I adopted this strategy, not only did my communication improve, but my relationships with clients became stronger, and I was able to offer more valuable solutions. 📌 𝐌𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: In your next meeting, focus on listening more than you speak.
