At the DAPP 10-year celebration, Djenne Clayton, General Counsel at Barilla America, Inc., delivered a powerful message to a room filled with past and future DAPP scholars and mentors. Speaking directly to underrepresented women in law, she shared the reality of being the ‘only one’ in the room and the impact it can have. But her words also carried hope: With more representation, we won’t have to worry about this. Together, we’re building a future where equity and belonging lead the way. #DAPP10Years #RepresentationMatters #WomenInLaw #EquityAndInclusion
Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program (DAPP)
Legal Services
The first national, 501(c)(3) organization founded to cultivate and grow the pipeline of women of color lawyers.
About us
The mission of the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program (DAPP) is to nurture and support the next generation of women of color attorneys and infuse the pipeline with diverse women of color law students who are empowered tackle the rigors of the legal profession. Born in 2013, DAPP was created to address the continued decline of underrepresented women of color lawyers in large law firms. Its founders first brainstormed about the program after discovering a disconnect between the number of highly-qualified, talented women of color lawyers in contrast to law firms’ continued struggle to identify, recruit, and retain qualified women of color at the associate and partner levels. DAPP seeks to directly solve this problem by preparing first-year, women of color law students for the rigors of big law through intensive academic support, rigorous professional development, student and attorney mentorship and internship opportunities. DAPP currently runs four (4) national programs specifically for 1L women of color law students: National Scholars Program, #PrepDAPP Boot Camp, DAPP Direct Job Placement Fair, Client Readiness Boot Camp.

Through our innovative programs, we’re advocating for systemic change by providing mentorship, scholarships, and hands-on experience to women who have historically been underrepresented in the field. We aim to create a sustainable pipeline of opportunities for these future leaders, ensuring they have access to the tools, networks, and support they need to thrive. DAPP empowers women at the start of their legal journey and works to retain them throughout their careers. By building strong relationships with law firms, legal institutions, and corporate partners, we help bridge the gap between talented women and the opportunities they deserve. Together, we’re fostering a more inclusive legal industry that reflects the diversity of our society. Our vision is one in which the next generation of lawyers and leaders will reflect a wide range of voices, experiences, and backgrounds and where everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
