After participating in DMGroup’s Academic-ROI Institute, district leaders at Boulder Valley School District (CO) decided to apply the Academic-ROI methodology to redesign the process for setting central office budgets. Focusing on data-driven decisions, BVSD undertook an Initiative Inventory to catalogue initiatives across 56 schools, understand their fully loaded costs, and analyze how well programs are aligned to the district’s current stated priorities. This information helped district leaders assess where to focus investments in support of priorities in the future. Read the case study: https://hubs.ly/Q02MBl6m0

The new school year is always an exciting time to welcome returning and new students and build relationships with families. However, for some public school districts, the start of a new school year is a harsh reminder of declining enrollment. Since 2019, US public pre-K-12 school enrollment has dropped by nearly 1.2 million students and continues to drop, impacting district budgets, initiatives, infrastructure, and staffing. Why are students and their families leaving public schools, and how can we get them back?

Each year the U.S. Department of Education distributes billions of dollars to school districts around the country to support students with disabilities. This money—distributed through Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)— pays for resources to help students with disabilities access a free appropriate public education. Did you know that IDEA funds can pay for many more expenses than is commonly realized and can work with other funding sources to provide coordinated supports to students with and without disabilities? Read the article to get a better understanding of IDEA’s service options, and the many types of costs IDEA can pay for. https://bit.ly/3PKrUPr
