DeSoto's Future in Life Sciences: Unveiling New Possibilities from Pegasus Park ✨ The DeSoto Development Corporation orchestrated a transformative experience for 30+ #DeSoto leaders at BioLabs Pegasus Park - North Texas on Monday, August 26th. This immersive, educational showcase was eye-opening for community leaders and a huge step forward in developing the 80-acre DeSoto Life Science Innovation Core. The BIO Day at Pegasus Park event provided insights into the burgeoning #LifeSciences and #Biotech industry in the DFW metroplex, the local talent and workforce development efforts, recent recruitment successes in #Texas, and phenomenal industry collaborations. Remarks were made by numerous North Texas leaders actively enriching this industry and DDC staff who shared DeSoto’s strategic position in the #DFW ecosystem. DeSoto’s delegation comprised individuals from the City of DeSoto City Council, DeSoto Development Corporation, City Staff, Wildwood Development, DeSoto Area Chamber of Commerce, and DESOTO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. Staff from the offices of State Representative Yvonne Davis and State Senator Royce West also joined the group. The DDC has identified #LifeSciences as a target industry, engaging with companies and organizations nationwide and internationally, and positioning #DeSotoTX as a significant player in the life sciences ecosystem. The Kohl's Distribution eFulfillment Center, a major company in our Eagle Business & Industrial Park, plays a crucial role in driving #EconomicDevelopment and stability in our region. As one of six major facilities across the United States, the DeSoto facility supports the efficient distribution of goods nationwide and serves as a significant local employer. Recently, the DeSoto Development Corporation toured the center along with the DeSoto Police Department, where we gained insights into facility operations, hiring challenges, employee welfare, and community engagement initiatives, including their school supply drive and on-site wellness center. Kohl's embraces a C.A.R.E. (Customer, Accountable, Resourceful, and Empathetic) work culture, which prioritizes customer satisfaction, accountability, and understanding. Furthermore, the on-site Wellness Center provides comprehensive healthcare services for both full-time and seasonal employees, including support for physical therapy and other medical needs, enhancing the overall well-being of the workforce.
