The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system standardizes how occupations are categorized, ensuring consistency across industries. It’s essential for labor market analysis, regulatory compliance, and workforce planning, helping organizations and agencies accurately classify job roles for applications like immigration, hiring, and economic policy. 🚨 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺: Classification systems like SOC codes are constantly evolving, which makes it challenging to match job descriptions accurately. This can lead to issues like visa denials, compliance risks, and inefficiencies across industries that rely on precise categorization. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗔𝗜-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗟𝗠 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Our approach combines keyword search with AI-driven semantic understanding to deliver more accurate results. Unlike traditional methods that only match specific words, our approach leverages a Large Language Model (LLM) to understand the context and meaning behind descriptions. The system ranks potential matches, and the LLM selects the best fit with a clear explanation, making the process both precise and transparent. 🌍 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: While we developed this solution to enhance SOC code classification, its potential applications are wide-reaching. From insurance policy coding to medical billing and beyond, any industry with complex classification systems can benefit from this approach. Hosting the ODi '24 conference was a fantastic experience, as we brought together industry leaders and innovators to explore the future of technology, leadership, and management. Last week I had the good fortune of carrying out a book signing and being interviewed as part of a Fireside Chat for the DePaul iD Lab's Optimizing Digital Innovation Conference focused on advances in AI.
