About us
The mission of Denver Public Schools is to provide all students the opportunity to achieve the knowledge and skills necessary to become contributing citizens in our diverse society. In DPS, we’re focused on building a system that’s designed to help every student thrive. We’re re-focusing our efforts where they matter most: on creating classrooms that are vibrant centers of learning, where caring teachers are engaging their students in rigorous, culturally responsive experiences in order to lift all students toward a bright horizon. In the last ten years, DPS has experienced unprecedented growth and an expansion of programs. Building on the strong progress we’ve made, we want to continue transforming DPS into a school district grounded in equity. This districtwide focus on equity will be embedded in everything we do, so that we can help break historical patterns and become a school district that is designed to inspire every student to dream big and make their own future. 👏Let's give a big hand to this week's LOD awardee for his tremendous work at putting #studentsfirst! Congrats, Nefi! "Nefi is a Senior Supervisor in the Department of Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS). Nefi supervises the Northwest region and oversees nine program sites. Some host after-school Enrichments and ELCSports in addition to their Discovery Link programs. To ensure all students have the best experience in our program, Nefi supports the development of processes and procedures for program supervisors and their staff. Nefi has been instrumental in creating documents to hold program supervisors and their teams accountable for delivering a high-quality program experience for all students. A safe and welcoming environment is crucial and plays a role in creating a positive team culture. To support this initiative of high-quality programs, Nefi has all program supervisors and their teams complete a list of roles and responsibilities, program supervisor's expectations and working agreements. In addition, he facilitates program supervisor micro-session meetings to support the preparation of full-day programs so all students have a memorable experience. I admire how Nefi puts students at the forefront of everything he does. His work is centered around leading and coaching his program supervisors so they can coach their teams and make all the ELCS programs the best they can be for students. Thank you, Nefi for your hard work and for being a stellar role model by putting Students First." — Leah Martinez, Extended Learning and Community Schools #denver #employeeappreciation

🩺Health is wealth! As part of our employee wellness initiatives, we've added blood pressure monitors to every privacy room at Emily Griffith Campus, Acoma, and 780 Grant—making it easy for staff to check in on their health. Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero checked his own blood pressure, showing how small steps can help maintain overall health and setting a great example of prioritizing well-being. Go check one out for yourself! Stay well, DPS! 💙 #EmployeeWellness #SelfCareMatters #Denver
