When planning a visit to The Wall That Heals Ohio, there are a number of solemn ceremonies you can attend during the 90 continuous hours that the Wall site will be open to visitors at Havener Park in Liberty Township. If you are hoping to avoid visiting when the site may be crowded, we recommend early mornings, late nights and even overnights -- and thank you to those who have signed up to help visitors during those overnight hours. The Delaware County Veterans Service Office has taken the lead on organization with Vietnam War veterans heading many of the working groups that are making this major event happen. If you would like to help out and honor those who have given so much, please consider volunteering when The Wall That Heals visits Havener Park in Liberty Township, Ohio (Delaware County), Sept. 12-15. The Commissioners were joined in session this week by two members of our Regional Sewer District team who received recognition for their work during a recent Ohio Water Environment Association conference. Tim Bennett received the Professional Wastewater Operations Award, which honors front-line workers who embody professionalism and dedication. During his 11-year career with Delaware County, Bennett has demonstrated ability and initiative to oversee five different wastewater facilities. He also trains and mentors new employees and serves as a backup chemist. Bic Boyles was selected as a regional winner of the F.H Waring Award, which recognizes individuals for significant contributions in the area of pollution abatement. In her role as a laboratory program manager, Boyles has implemented analytical practices that ensure consistency in the Regional Sewer District’s testing methods. She also oversees the Industrial Pretreatment Program, where her strategic planning efforts have identified initiatives that will ensure the program can scale with ongoing growth in the county. Please join us in congratulating these two outstanding members of the Delaware County team on their awards!
