In our latest video, see how #DeepSouthCrane replaced two massive coke drums at a refinery within a tight outage window. This complex operation involved assembling the 1,500T #VersaCrane TC-24000 off site and moving it via #SPMT, saving this client 15 days of downtime, while also allowing the refinery unit to run at full capacity until unit shutdown. During the scheduled outage, Deep South was tasked to replace two coke drums, each weighing 452,800 lbs. and measuring 19’-2” outside diameter and 96’-0” long. These were comparable in size and weight to the old drums.   From the initial transport of the new drums from the Port of Houston to a dock in Louisiana, to their final installation, every step was carefully orchestrated. In Louisiana, #deepsouthcrane successfully transported a 350,000-pound steam boiler with precision and expertise. This operation presented challenges on the boiler’s 375-mile journey, including navigating tight exits and unexpected road construction, and our team was up to the task. Initially, overcoming the size constraints at the fabrication facility required creative solutions. The door width and height of the fabrication facility were too tight to use a conventional transporter to move the steam boiler out of the facility. Using a climbing jack, we elevated the boiler onto a specialized #SPMT and later transferred it onto a 12-axle-line transporter for the journey. Our on-site wireless weighing system ensured accurate weight and balance measurements before hitting the road. Working closely with the LaDOTD, the Deep South team carefully planned the route, ensuring compliance with height restrictions and safely navigating around Baton Rouge via LA-61 and the Sunshine Bridge. The successful delivery of the steam boiler underscores our commitment to delivering complex projects safely and on schedule. We applaud the #DeepSouthCrane crew that received this 790,025-pound debutanizer, measuring 174’-3” long, 21’-3” diameter, from an ocean-going vessel, transported it into the refinery, and set it on its foundation. Crews used a double-wide 18-axle-line Scheuerle #SPMT for the initial transport to the refinery. The debutanizer was then lifted with an 800-ton gantry onto cribbing. To help reduce the overall transport size and accommodate the challenging route, Deep South’s Scheuerle SPMT-SL split trailers were placed in the shipping saddle pockets to dramatically lower the load and facilitate the one-mile move to the lift location. An 1,800-ton #VersaCrane TC-28000 in configuration 4/8 with a 303’ main boom and a double-wide 12-axle-line Scheuerle SPMT with tailing frame were used to lift the debutanizer onto its foundation. Operating in the heart of a city as part of a high-rise renovation project presented unique challenges, including narrow streets and limited space for heavy equipment assembly and maneuvering. The owner needed a 23,333-pound swimming pool (measuring 33’ long, 13’ wide, and 4’ deep) lifted onto the roof of a multi-use office and residential building. Our #DeepSouthCrane solution involved deploying a state-of-the-art 600-ton #Tadano #Demag AC500-2 all-terrain crane. The crane was in a “sideways” super-lift luffing fly-jib configuration (inclined by 60 degrees) with a main boom length of 169.9’ at an 83-degree angle. The luffing jib length was 255.9’. Further, the setup had a maximum counterweight (396,800 pounds) with a maximum outrigger configuration of 31.6’ x 31.6’.   #deepsouthcraneandrigging #heavylift #demag

For this #flashbackfriday, we look back at this cat head and reactor turnaround/replacement in the Southwest that required extensive planning and engineering to configure a safe lift and set. The cat head’s total load was 485,000 lbs., and the reactor’s total load was 704,000 lbs. The #DeepSouthCrane team used an 1,800-ton #VersaCrane TC-28000 in Configuration 8, which is ideal for tight clearances and relies on steel distribution beams to spread outrigger loads over a greater area. In this case, the area was very congested, and the outriggers were placed under existing pipe racks. With 400 kips on the main counterweight tray and 1,440 kips on the auxiliary counterweight tray, the lift was completed with zero incidents and ahead of schedule. #deepsouthcraneandrigging #heavylift #heavyliftcranes #safetyexcellence

A vehicle manufacturer’s largest stamping press, a massive machine used for shaping body panels, is online and operational thanks to efficient installation by #DeepSouthCrane. In just 4 weeks, crews loaded, transported, lifted, and set the press components, which included a 181-ton bed (under grade), a 250-ton crown, and a 92-ton slide. Each piece was carefully moved inside the facility with #SPMTs and then lifted and stacked with 700-ton #gantries. The highlight of this feat?
