Dcode’s Meagan Metzger and Brian Masters recently had an opportunity to share their expertise with participants in IDB’s Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology. Thank you to IDB | Institute for Defense & Business for the opportunity to help advance the state of the art in this critical part of the mission! And congratulations to the new LOGTECH Advanced program graduates!

🚀 We Develop Leaders!   Last week, we celebrated the completion of the second offering of the LOGTECH Advanced program in September with 38 dynamic participants who are now equipped to drive impactful and transformational change in their organizations. Our esteemed IDB faculty and speakers challenged our participants to think differently on how they approach supply chain resiliency, scaling value and solutions, and contested logistics. 💡 Thursday featured Ms. Meagan Metzger, Founder and CEO of DCode and Mr. Brian Masters, Director of Cloud Engineering, Fidelity Investments, Inc. with “Operationalizing Innovation” where they facilitated small group practical exercises that helped the participants understand the value of stakeholders and the development of buy-in strategy that generates irreversible momentum to drive change. 📊 Following that, Dr. Jon Kirchoff and Dr. John Kros, School of Business, East Carolina University led a session titled “Supply Chain Risk Management and Building Resilience” focused on learning strategies to develop best-case scenarios for managing global supply chain and logistics risk and for building resilience and connecting industry supply chain risk management and resilience to the DoD and Defense industry. 🗺 VADM Jeff Jablon, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Installations and Logistics (OPNAV N4) and IDB LOGTECH Executive program alumni served as our guest speaker on Thursday night, who provided a compelling session on the CNO priorities, the Maritime Sustainment Strategy, and the roadmap for transforming the Naval Logistics Enterprise.     The week culminated in Friday's small group reports to a panel of senior leaders that included IDB President Lieutenant General Mark Faulkner, USMC (Retired) and IDB Executive Fellow Rear Admiral Peter Stamatopolous, USN (Retired). The small groups demonstrated practical application of the concepts and tools acquired from the week of academics against strategic and enterprise level problem statements that examined contested logistics, military and industry relations, data fluency, Artificial Intelligence, and globally integrated logistics. We’re excited to see our new graduates return to their workplaces, applying their knowledge to drive irreversible momentum and impactful change. Congratulations on joining the IDB alumni community, and best of luck as you embark on this next chapter!🎓✨

Go Meg Vorland! What a great panel!

DC's tech community is thriving! This week, we kicked off the Penn West Global Innovation Series in the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District with the DC Fintech Summit powered by DC Tech & Venture Coalition (DCTAV). Thanks to Tishman Speyer for hosting us at DC's The Square. Highlights included a wealth of insights about how to navigate the fintech ecosystem and access available resources in DC, thanks to Tamara Zeidan of District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB), Sara Adams and Adam Lattimore, MPA of Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Meg Vorland of Dcode, and Emmanuel Smadja of MPOWER Financing. One big takeaway: DC is uniquely positioned as a hotbed for fintech innovation because of its proximity to the federal government and the many federal contracting opportunities that come with it. According to USASpending.gov there has been more than $500 million in federal contracts to DC companies for fintech and regtech over the past decade. DC is where you'll find regulatory and policy decision makers, a highly educated population, top-rated schools and universities, and many more advantages that offer promise for growing the fintech ecosystem. Follow us on LinkedIn and visit pennwestinnovation.com to keep up with what's happening in DC's tech scene, including upcoming events in the Penn West Global Innovation Series.

Thank you to Dr. Radha Iyengar Plumb and her amazing team at DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office for speaking with Dcode’s CEO Meagan Metzger last Friday. And thank you to all of our attendees! You can watch the replay at the link below. There’s a lot of great detail, and we learned even more on a second listen! 💡 Here are some of our key takeaways: > CDAO is all in on getting the best thinking and technology into the mission – through acquisition that stresses transparency. Meaning: clarity of requirements, expectations for getting from prototype to production, and intellectual property ownership. > CDAO is part of an “ecosystem of creative folks” who are committed to innovative acquisition pathways for DoD and are changing the culture. > Through the #GIDE experiments, CDAO is fostering close alignment between the user/warfighter and technologists, to the benefit of both.
