On Monday, Day Kimball Health and the Day Kimball Healthcare Foundation dedicated the hospital’s main entrance lobby in honor of Claire and Joseph Langevin, lifelong residents of Plainfield and dedicated supporters of Day Kimball Hospital. The newly named “Langevin Lobby” commemorates a generous gift from Claire Langevin and honors the legacy of her late husband, Joseph, as well as their four daughters—Kate Langevin, Sandra Peterle, Christine Earehart, and JoAnn Titus—all of whom have had personal connections to the hospital throughout their lives.   The Langevin family’s donation will support several vital programs and services that they designated as having had a significant and positive impact on their family’s healthcare, including the Cardiopulmonary Rehab program, Hospice and Palliative Care, HomeCare, Pediatrics, and the Oncology Transportation Fund. The Day Kimball Health family is deeply grateful for this generous and heartfelt gift and is honored to have the privilege of recognizing the Langevin family’s enduring legacy.

Congrats to Dr. Steven Wexler, chairman of the Day Kimball Hospital Emergency Department who completed his 9th Pan-Mass Challenge this past weekend. Dr. Wexler demonstrated extraordinary dedication and resilience, riding 300 miles from New Canaan, NY to Provincetown, MA over three days, braving the intense heat and humidity. Joining Dr. Wexler were seven members of his team, the Courage Coneheads, who together made this year’s ride a true Pan-Mass Challenge. Dr. Wexler raised over $16,700 contributing to his team’s total of over $329,000 and counting! 100% of these funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Congrats to all of the riders who are dedicated to getting #closerbythemile to a cure for cancer! #PMC2024

We are thrilled to have our Junior Volunteers on campus for the summer! During their time at DKH, they take on various tasks around the hospital and engage in career exploration sessions. Today, they visited the Emergency Department with our Care Cart, accompanied by Lerin Peckham from our Quality Department. The Care Cart, generously donated by the employees of Harbor Freight in Dayville in 2023, is stocked with a variety of items to enhance the comfort and experience of our patients including puzzles, magazines, and other comfort care items. Today's deliveries aimed to help those in the Emergency Room stay engaged during their wait. The Junior Volunteer program helps pave the way for students who are exploring medical fields while supporting our staff and patients. This week’s career explorations included Maternal Child Health, Nuclear Medicine, and Med/Surg, and later this week they will attend a presentation on Occupational Therapy.
