Each year, the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA) conference brings together over 1,000 law enforcement professionals, data analysts, and researchers to share innovative practices and tools for crime analysis and prevention. We are excited to highlight the exceptional personnel from the Davenport Police Department who presented valuable insights at this year's conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. In partnership with the National Institute of Justice, Davenport Police Analysts Allissa Hawk and Nick Fleischmann led two sessions focusing on the vital role analysts play in addressing gun violence including how analysts can use National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) leads. Recently, the Davenport Police Department's Police Chief Jeffery Bladel graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. On September 12, 2024, Chief Bladel was one of 254 law enforcement professionals in the 291st session to graduate with this prestigious achievement. Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy is an intensive 10-week training program held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, the same facility where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts. Training includes advanced instruction on communication, leadership, and fitness. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies in order to attend. Please join us in congratulating Chief Bladel on completing this program; a career-long goal that reflects his ongoing dedication and commitment to serving the Davenport community.

Let's welcome Doug Maxeiner as the new City Administrator of Davenport!👏🤩 The Davenport City Council voted to approve the hiring of the new City Administrator Doug Maxeiner. With 32 years of experience in local government management, Maxeiner most recently served as City Administrator in East Moline, Illinois from 2019 to 2023. “I’m honored to be selected for the City Administrator position in Davenport and to join the exemplary staff of the City to serve the residents of this community,” said Maxeiner. “While we have many challenges to address, there are even more opportunities to pursue. I am eager to work with Mayor Matson, the City Council, staff and the community to make Davenport the best it can be.” Maxeiner's first day at the City of Davenport will be October 28, 2024. They are family members and a vital part of our community." -Fire Chief Mike Carlsten This group has dedicated hundreds of hours towards achieving their formal education accomplishments and thousands of hours acquiring the technical knowledge needed to lead this department into the future. These individuals are an excellent example of the professionalism of the Davenport Fire Department. We are proud of the service they provide for our community.

Last Thursday, we held a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate the completion of the new Fairmount Community Center. Attendees toured the space, picked up information on the new community center, and enjoyed light refreshments. Located next to the Davenport Public Library Fairmount Branch, the 4,500 square foot space will allow for sports, drop-in activities, and a wide range of other community activities. The community center was made possible through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and makes for a great addition to the area. We want to thank our community for providing their input to help us bring this space to life!

The City of Davenport is hosting a public reception for the community to meet the finalists for the City Administrator position. Over the past week, Davenport Fire and Davenport Community Schools have been working together to Fill The Fire Station! This was a community-wide school supply drive with the goal of ensuring Davenport Community Schools students would have the tools for success this upcoming school year. Community members could drop off their donations at any fire station in Davenport. With the amazing support from B100, Davenport Fire received a substantial amount of supply donations. This wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our amazing community!

Earlier this week, Evolution Power Tools employees rolled out the red carpet at their U.S. Headquarters in northwest Davenport for a special visit from children of Hope at the BRICK House, City of Davenport staff, and Police Officers. The day was filled with fun as the group enjoyed a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon of kickball, soccer, cornhole, and drawing with sidewalk chalk. The collaboration between Evolution Power Tools and Hope at the BRICK House as part of The Good Neighbor Project has truly blossomed, showcasing their commitment to our community. Witnessing these GNP partners forge a strong friendship warms our hearts, and we are grateful for their dedication to The Good Neighbor Project!
