Shocked, honoured & gassed to announce I’ve been awarded the Mead Fellowship grant to bring my final university project Dancefloor Intimacy to life. Born out of the necessity to reimagine our music venues, Dancefloor Intimacy seeks to inspire change in London's nightlife by promoting the safety and sense of belonging for autistic and neurodivergent individuals in these spaces. The NTIA claims that the UK has seen a "dramatic decline" in music venue numbers, with 67 nightclubs shutting in the first quarter of 2024, averaging approximately five closures a week. It feels like there is no better time than now to reimagine our dancefloors. With the concerning statistics from the NTIA, it's clear that our UK music venues need to evolve to bring communities back to the dancefloor and ignite a revolution in these spaces. I will be sharing more information about the project over the coming months, so give Dancefloor Intimacy a follow to stay up to date. And of course, if you are at all interested in being involved or have any questions please reach out to me <3 [ID: The Dancefloor Intimacy logo, featuring text and black-and-white icon imagery, displayed on a video backdrop of a girl dancing in a club] Instagram: @dancefloor.intimacy
