Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Peace Corps volunteers worldwide were withdrawn from their host countries in March of 2020. But, just two years later, the first Volunteers began returning to service from the 62 countries where they were serving. As Volunteers began returning to service, the resounding message has been: The Peace Corps is Back. NEWS FROM THE DAMBACH FELLOWSHIP FOUNDERS’ COUNCIL “How will YOU change the world?” is the challenging question that confronts every student who enters the reception area of the School of Global Studies at Oklahoma State University. It also resonates with those of us who are members of the Dambach Fellowship Founders’ Council. The Dambach Peacebuilder Endowed Fellowship is awarded to students whose response to the challenge is to become Peacebuilders around the world. The Dambach Fellowship Fund was established to honor OSU alumnus, Chic Dambach, whose dedication to the work of Peacebuilding has had a significant impact on the lives of people worldwide. His fellow graduates hope you will join us in helping change the world by continuing the Dambach mission. We’re pleased to report that as of the end of June 2024, over $460,000 has been raised for the Dambach Fellowship Fund. 60 individuals, couples or family foundations have chosen to support the Fund and we are more than grateful for every one of them. The Dambach Founders’ Council, on behalf of all the donors, wish to congratulate Mr. Wisdom Clinton Wuanka of Ghana, the first Dambach Fellow, and his fellow classmates for their graduation from OSU on May 10, 2024. All of you have worked hard and we wish you only the best to come as you pursue your careers in international public service. Congratulations and Good Luck! "It’s a great honor to know that I am a part of the Dambach Fellowship… I am aware that the first Fellowship awardee comes from Africa: Clinton Wuanka of Ghana in West Africa. I am so proud that a continent like Africa would be the first beneficiary of the Dambach Fellowship for Peace at Oklahoma State University. This is the spirit that we should carry forward; a great determination to stand up for people in need, and promote world peace and stability. It’s a joy to identify with this fantastic initiative." says Victor Ochen, Member of Advisory Group to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees at the United Nations. You can donate here for the first time (or make an additional donation): https://lnkd.in/dDfcna3W You can also donate by mailing a check made payable to the Oklahoma State University Foundation; attn.: Harlie Perry, 400 So. Monroe, Stillwater, OK, USA 74074. Include “Dambach Fellowship Fund” in the memo line. Thank you very much! HOW DOES ONE BECOME A DAMBACH FELLOW? The purpose of the Dambach Peacebuilder Endowed Fellowship is the recognition and support of graduate students of Oklahoma State University’s School of Global Studies who by their actions, writing or speaking demonstrate a commitment to peacebuilding in its many aspects. The Dambach Peacebuilder Endowed Fellowship encourages the study and practice of techniques and methodologies that can initiate, develop and support collaborative action at all levels of society and in disparate cultures. These include negotiation skills, nonviolent dispute resolution, and the establishment and maintenance of the free and open exchange of ideas. The Fellowship was established by the Dambach Fellowship Founders’ Council who created the Fellowship in honor of one of our contemporary students from the late 1960s at OSU, Mr. Chic Dambach. Chic himself is a Global Peacebuilder and it is hoped that Fellows will benefit from exposure to him personally and of his life-long pursuit for global peace. Of the four academic areas of focus, or “tracks,” that are part of the graduate program curriculum, the School of Global Studies and the Council view Track 2 - Global Leadership and Development and Track 3 - Global Communication and Public Diplomacy as the most relevant for the Fellowship recipients. Read our full article on becoming a Dambach Fellow in the second issue of our newsletter: https://lnkd.in/daNJ9yWb For further information about the criteria for selection: https://lnkd.in/deXQJSpZ To learn more about OSU and its School of Global Studies: https://lnkd.in/dzd2Y-DX To learn more about the Dambach Peacebuilder Founder’s Council: https://lnkd.in/dsQ93hNn

The Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), based in Sydney, Australia, annually publishes its “Positive Peace Report” and its 2024 report was recently released which included an update of their Global Peace Index and Positive Peace Index which previous editions have impacted UN programs, national governments and nongovernmental organizations. IEP’s new report documents that between 2013 and 2022, more countries have improved in Positive Peace than have deteriorated, with 108 registering improvements and 55 registering deteriorations. We are proud to share that IEP Founder Steve Killelea is a close colleague of Chic Dambach and a donor to the Dambach Peacebuilder Fellowship.
