About us

The Corinthian Yacht Club (CYC) is a full-service club offering members and visiting yachtsmen a broad range of sailing and racing events. For more than 125 years, the CYC has made yachting, racing and cruising history. The CYC also offers members tennis, swimming, dining and social activities in a vibrant and interactive community. The beautiful clubhouse on Marblehead Neck and the glorious view from the porch enhance members' enjoyment of the club. The CYC was organized on July 7, 1885, to establish racing among smaller sailing vessels in busy Marblehead Harbor. The certificate of incorporation was filed January 17, 1888, and listed as members Benjamin W. Crowninshield, John B. Rhodes, Irving S. Palmer, Everett Paine, Frank E. Peabody, William S. Eaton Jr., George Stewart, William W. Whitcomb, George W. Tyner and C.H.W. Foster. The founders selected Pegasus, the flying horse of Corinth, as its emblem, and Et Certare Pares et Respondere Parati (Prepared both to contend together as equals and to respond to any challenge) as its motto. Throughout its history, the CYC has honored sailing traditions such as the annual cruise and regattas such as Marblehead Race Week and the Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta. It has also established new ones such as a 2v2 team racing regatta. Today, our active family community enjoys not only sailing and racing, but also swimming in a state-of-the-art pool, fishing, tennis, dining and social events. As the Executive Committee defined in its mission statement in 2012, the CYC's strategic themes are Family Friendly, Members First, Sailing Experience and Good Stewardship.
