Great panel discussion today at the Pro Progressio Follow The Leaders BSS Conference in Gdańsk, Poland about Europe vs the rest of the world and where foreign direct investment (FDI) from GBS and IT flows to across different nearshore and offshore locations. What was clear is that mature outsourcing locations need to evolve and recalibrate their value propositions to embrace Outsourcing 2.0 and the next wave of sourcing. In fact, I predict that within the next 5+ years the importance of location favorability will be eclipsed as organizations shift towards utilizing diverse, multi-sourced, multi-shored talent pools. These pools will consist of workers from various locations, strategically assembled for specific projects or enterprises based on their skills, expertise, time zone compatibility, and language proficiency - enhanced and supported by AI and tech. We proudly announce the formation of the Africa Federation of GBS Associations, a collaborative effort supported by founding national industry associations and investment promotion agencies from Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. This is the fulfillment of a great vision by industry lifetime award winner, patron and veteran, Rod Jones. This initiative, backed by a panel of eight African countries (and growing), seeks to unify diverse capabilities and resources to further enable Africa’s immense potential as a GBS/BPO/ITO and CX hub for sector enablement, knowledge exchange, research, networking, and collaborative innovation.
