What is Qi Gong you wonder? Well, Qi Gong has traditionally been known as a way to improve health, increase vitality and lower stress. Most of the movements are simple to learn and can be done while standing or sitting. Over time, Qi gong practice can clear and sharpen the mind and promote emotional balance. Take an early lunch break and join us for an upcoming class and experience it for yourself. #qigong #healthandwellness #cancersupport #relaxation

Community is stronger than cancer.
About us
Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club Rochester uplifts and strengthens people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Our innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing networking and support groups, workshops, education and social activities. Established in 1959, the agency was originally named Cancer Action. In 2000, the agency was re-branded as Gilda’s Club Rochester, in honor of the famed comedienne who died of cancer in 1989. The objective was to create an even more informed and healthier population. This collaboration with a national network of cancer support organizations enabled us to offer an even wider variety of programs, including much-needed social and emotional support to those living with cancer and their family members. Today, our newly-named (as of October 2021) Cancer Support Community Rochester serves over 5,000 people annually. Gilda’s spirit lives on as members both give and receive support and encouragement through our unique programs and events. We offer over 1,000 free programs each year to those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Dasia Alston is the second person to complete her internship with Latinos Unidos Contra Cáncer outreach group through Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club. She is a recent graduate from SUNY Brockport where she earned a Bachelor's in Biology. Dasia was very excited to apply her knowledge in a practical setting while engaging in community outreach and education. She was particularly drawn to CSC’s mission of supporting those impacted by cancer. Dasia expanded her knowledge on cancer, and gained experience in assisting, planning and carrying out community outreach in Latino communities, stating that she was empowered by this experience. She is currently studying for her The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) exam to enroll in medical school. We have no doubt she will excel in whatever path she chooses. We look forward to seeing her growth and success. #cancersupport #cancersupportcommunity #latinoswithcancer #cancerinternship

Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club Rochester reposted this
Throughout the month of October we will be introducing and featuring our Associate Board members! We’re kicking it off with our AB Co-President, Chris Keyes. Chris’ relationship with Cancer Support Community started back in 2017, while participating in the Bachelor Auction to benefit the organization. Since then, he has been entrenched in the great work that our Associate Board does for Cancer Support Community. In 2020, Chris became Co-President of the Cancer Support Community Rochester Associate Board. In 2022, Chris championed the start of the Cancer Support Classic Golf Tournament at the Links at Greystone. Chris is entering his 8th season as the Defensive Coordinator for the St. John Fisher University Football program. His passion for assisting those with cancer started as an undergraduate student at St. John Fisher when he was introduced to Camp Good Days and Special Times. Starting in 2023, Chris assisted Camp Good Days in getting their very first Associate Board off the ground with 12 founding members. Also, this past April, he was inducted into the Camp Good Days and Special Times Ring of Honor for his continued work with the organization which started in 2007. Chris lives in Fairport with his wife, Lisa and their puppy, Scout.
