We're seeing a shift in transparency surrounding the hiring process. While it's certainly not yet the standard, some companies are taking initiative in being more forthcoming with details, timelines, and personnel in a way that might benefit both the candidate and the company. Withholding details or promises when it comes to interview expectations has historically given HR teams more flexibility when needed. On the other hand, disclosing additional details upfront now seems to be saving administrative teams copious amounts of work required to keep various candidates updated throughout the process. One thing we can all agree on -- increased transparency throughout the hiring process is a massive value add for the candidates in pursuit. Founder and CEO Kyle Samuels (he/him) weighed in on the conversation with WorkLife -- check out the full article here!

Our CEO has something to say...
It was a pleasure to be able to share my thoughts with Carine Harb for this Newsweek piece. The way I see it, Vice President Kamala Harris' policies are about more than the facts and the financials. They are a step towards enacting real change for Black men, not just for our communities today but for everyone who comes after, allowing Black men to build businesses and grow roots right at home where it matters the most. Let's talk about it! https://lnkd.in/duZqCYbK

It's true what they say – actions speak louder than words. The thing is, if you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk. Period. When employers say that they support DEI initiatives, but their actions indicate otherwise, that’s a red flag. More and more companies are weighing in on the controversial discussion surrounding the weight of equity in organizational DEI efforts. Our take on the whole thing? Without equity, there is little room for diversity or inclusion in the workplace. Read what others are saying in the full article linked below. #DEI #EquityInTheWorkplace #InclusiveLeadership

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here's the cut and dry -- #Effort isn’t as valuable as results. When it comes to putting in the work, we want to see tangible outcomes, right? Our CEO and founder Kyle Samuels (he/him) offers sound advice when he advises… “Be humble and stay committed to learning -- that's how we yield tangible results.” Especially when it comes to seeking recognition, acknowledgment, or promotion, the proof will be in the results, not necessarily the effort. A company's main objective is to drive the business forward, have lasting impact, and often, generate profit, and the organization will prioritize and reward individuals whose effort lends to achieving desired and targeted outcomes. In an ideal world, effort leads to results, but that isn't always the case. As Kyle so simply put it -- be humble, and stay commited to learning. That's how we get the job done.

A surefire sign of leadership? Accountability. At CTE, one of our core values is “Play the Right Way.” This all boils down to accountability—to do the right thing, even when it’s hard. We see this value as a necessity in our work, but it’s also a valuable quality to maintain for anyone in leadership roles. As a leader, you set the tone for workplace culture, and how we operate has a ripple effect. At the end of the day, progress, improvement, and growth all boil down to their reliance on personal and team accountability. It's not only imperative to demonstrate accountability as a leader, but to encourage it amongst your team -- both professional and personal. Ensure that taking accountability results in support and growth as opposed to punishment or shame. From missing an email response, to how we treat each other -- accountability triggers empathy, connection, and productivity no matter how big or small the moment.

CTE #TeamSpotlight, meet Erin Harrington! Erin Harrington, SPHR is our Executive Search Partner and currently resides in Park City, Utah. In her role at CTE, Erin is essential to the value we bring as a team in managing and maintaining client expectations and experiences throughout the talent selection process. When it comes to quality, the choice is yours. Although value-based pricing strategies are nothing new, they continue to impact industries in new ways. This article makes an essential point about working with smaller firms/companies, and to be clear, we agree: You have more choices than you think. More choices and opportunities to drive change in your industry. To reshift structures and systems in a way that provides flexibility. When it comes to quality, lead with your values.

Welcome October and the start of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth As part of our vision at CTE, we pride ourselves on challenging traditional ways of thinking with new perspectives free of assumptions and judgment. This month, your feed will have big flashes of pink paired with recent statistics raising breast cancer awareness. But what about the topic of equity? It’s true that for those who are part of the minority, this diagnosis impacts them differently. One way to support equality for all is to validate and elevate individual stories of experience and share what we know. While it may feel far-fetched -- there are valuable parallels between the every industry from every corner of the world. The more space we can hold for diverse experiences and voices, the stronger we are as a collective, and the more likely we are to enact solutions that prove impactful all people.
