Our list of the 200 Most Influential Leaders in West Michigan features some new faces in 2024. The names on this list are some of the most familiar in business, civic leadership, higher education and other key sectors that make West Michigan’s economy tick. These are the C-suite leaders, directors, and executives who wield the most influence in our region, collectively overseeing thousands of workers and generating billions of dollars in economic activity. While these folks clearly have influence, none of them requested to be on this list. We had a packed room at this morning’s Crain's Grand Rapids Business Power Breakfast where we covered a lot of ground on the commercial real estate outlook for 2025. Keynote Randy Thelen of The Right Place, Inc. provided excellent insights into West Michigan growth opportunities in the tech center. Commercial real estate reporter Kate Carlson led a great panel discussion that touched on everything from the flight to quality in the office market to the impact of interest rates to residential conversions. About five months after Broad Leaf Brewery & Spirits' revival on Bridge Street, the business is rebranding and adding in-house food to help make its presence stick in the west side neighborhood. The taproom is now known as Broad Leaf Underground Bar, a name change referring to its location in the basement level of 443 Bridge St. in an effort to embrace its location and more effectively draw in the community.
