    Here’s a big tip for all my hiring managers and partners out there:  Remember, those candidates you’re meeting?  They’re interviewing you too. So, what do you need to do? You’ve got to make your team's opportunity really attractive, interesting, and appealing. Candidates have plenty of options, so you’ve got to stand out. Your job postings need to be sharp, and your pitch about the role and your company has to be compelling, worthwhile, and potentially lucrative. How do you nail that? That’s where we can work together. If you’re asking basic, cookie-cutter interview questions from Google, it’s for sure not enough to truly engage top talent. We hear it from candidates all the time: “It sounded good, but I’m not sure why this job is more exciting than the others.” You can control that variable, and it’s super important. By honing in on your story and what makes your opportunity unique, you’ll be able to lock in top talent better than anyone else. It’s an easy conversation for us to have, and I’m more than happy to walk you through the steps to make your opportunity really sharp.     OK so I’m rabid LinkedIn fan (feel free to make fun of me) but it’s been a while since I did a proper hello. #jontent incoming I’m a native Detroiter and extremely “Midwest” – a master of OPE. While I miss many things about my hometown, I’ve been in Chicago since 2011 and would not want to be anywhere else. Give me all the seasons, the lake, the crazy intensity of the city with quiet pockets of neighborhoods all day.  Growing up in suburbia was fine, but I’d much rather be surrounded by as many small local businesses as I can, rather than like 19 Chipotles. While I grew up a hockey player, I’m now old and hurt everywhere, so gave that up for another lighter impact hobby – golf.  It mixes well with all the travel we like to do and is a proper excuse to get outside.  At this point, I’ve played over 500 different golf courses around the world – which is probably one of my most out there Jon Trivia answers.  I’ve gotten a TON of offers accepted while on the golf course.  Shhh, don’t tell anyone…  Also, check me out in my occasional blogging at Driving Range Heroes Nearing 15 years in recruiting, I’m reminded daily how good I have it to work alongside Lauren Egger, Riley Kizer, and Taylor Reed.  I enjoy doing the work every day, and I love even more that we get to do it our way. A truly BETTER way IMO, where it is about actually helping and being the best service we can be, rather than the onslaught of transactional, hard sales that you see everywhere in recruiting.  I’ve worked at those places, so I’m exceptionally qualified to rip on them. I honestly DO like connecting with folks here, so would love to hear from you. Feel free to drop your own hello in the comments and let me know a bit about your story too!

    Well, today’s the big day I was talking about. I wanted to officially intro Taylor Reed, as Covert Recruiting new Business Development Lead.
